Yeah, I was there in the 70s. My friends and I would go dancing there but we never did drugs and we were never propositioned by older men, I guess we were a homely lot.

I went to the Odyssey as a teen to see this great band “The Quick.” They morphed into The Rembrandts, who recorded the Friends theme song “I’ll Be There For You.”

I went there all the time in the early eighties and it was a blast. It was the coolest club in town and I met a lot of lifelong friends there, including Alexis Arquette. Great times and great memories  ❤

This is a little Sensational about the Bad Stuff. Back in the 80s there were a lot of Under 21 Clubs and just like schools attract some of the Wrong Adults, a club dedicated to young people certainly would too.. I still have very good memories of the Odyssey and like many others, I didn't know anything about the Eddy Nash or John Holmes stuff till decades later.
The world was such a better place as a whole back then.. at least on the surface..

I hung out at the odyssey when I was just a Youngin’ thank God nothing bad ever happened, but I did learn that Kristy McNichol was gay when I kept flirting with her, which really bummed me out because I had a mad crush

My jaw has been dropped the whole time watching this. I loved the odyssey when I was a kid. So crazy, so much fun. Are used to sneak out of the house to go to it.

My West Hollywood roommate and I were regulars at the Osyssey in the early 80s. You'd see many D list celebrities and the occasional sitcom star there. Doing lines in the restrooms was a common sight. We weren't aware of any of this Nash/Holmes stuff. It wasn't seedy inside no matter what was going on there. Two of the biggest rock stars in the world would send reps into procure teenagers for their parties. I made platonic friends with some guys who spilled the tea. Troy are you out there?

I loved this place!  It was my home away from home!

I loved the Odyssey. I went there in the early 80s. I saw nothing creepy about it..  yes, I did see some celebrities there and it had the best sound system I’ve ever heard.   Those were some great days. I’ll never forget it.

It's so annoying how many people just want to have a good time and it only takes a few people to take advantage of that and ruin it for everyone. Wish disco clubs made a come back

“16 year old roommate” It stuck out to me at first too but then I thought it was the 1980s, our modern concept of child welfare was still taking hold. More than likely most people thought a 16 year old was close enough to and adult back then

I moved to L.A. in 1985 - by that time The Odyssey was gone, but legendary.  I heard stories about it all the time.  Didn't know it had such a seedy underbelly, but that's not hard to imagine.

This was such an insane time. Things go on and people you see and mingle with, that you just don't put things together with until after the fact. Often times, many years later. Eddie Nash, what an interesting and yet horrible story. The guy comes from a foreign country, I think Iran or Armenia with not a penny to his name, eating ketchup packet sandwiches to survive and running a hot dog cart to survive, eventually becomes such a powerful figure in Los Angeles. My friends and I frequented many of his clubs but unknowingly. Even if we knew…, what? Stuff happened yet and every other debauchery was just stuff that happened. He owned and ran so many big , world famous clubs in Los Angeles. Quite a number that we all frequented. The Starwood, the Palace , the 7 seas, the Odyssey, on and on. I would often see him at these clubs and wonder who this old dude was. Who is this person I keep seeing at all these clubs? Hugely famous clubs that hugely famous bands would play at?! Then there were the times that I thankfully had some kind of Awareness, and I guess a smarter state of mind than so many others, to avoid and turn down situations that came up involving seemingly extremely nefarious people. Even if I didn't know the people, you just knew when shit was wrong and you gotta say no and walk away. At least I did. Most often when nobody else was around and still, none of my closest friends still don’t know about. Sometimes I look back at those times and think to myself, J. C. ! The things that my awareness saved myself from! So anyways, not to make crime and all that stuff glamorous but reading about Eddie Nash, and all that stuff that was going down back then, is interesting, fascinating and extremely tragic. The Wonderland murders pretty much sums it all up.

We used to catch the bus at 22nd St in Hermosa Beach, get a transfer in LA, and spend the night there. It closed at 5am and the busses didn't start running again until 6 so we walked around for an hour or so before getting a bus to take us to school.
It's a wonder none of us ever had any issues, we knew some of the shit that was going on but by no means all of it.

It's a miracle any one of us survived that extraordinary and unprecedented immersion in complete naivety, and for lack of a better term... ignorance. Never giving a minute's worth of thought to the fact that there WERE predator's out there. Predator's who were looking for an opportunity to exploit all that ignorance and naivety. John Holmes' fully developed/defined palm-print...in the victims blood...was found at the Wonderland crime scene most likely because Holmes was more useful/valuable to the killer's as a LIVING murder SUSPECT than a DEAD murder VICTIM. Makes perfect sense for that palm-print to be there. They prolly woulda taken his picture and left it there if they remembered to bring the camera. 📷

I wonder if Nash was ‘The Count’ that Glenn Fry mentioned in an interview when speaking about the Eagles song, “Life in the Fast Lane?”
