Most Montreal itineraries hand you a landmark checklist and march you across the island until every church starts to look the same. This guide does it differently: Day 1 stays inside the cobblestoned wedge where the city was founded in 1642, Day 2 climbs the mountain the island is named for and drops into the immigrant neighborhoods that gave Montreal its personality, and Day 3 heads through one of North America's oldest markets to the festival plazas the city rebuilt downtown to hold.

🚶 GETTING AROUND
Old Montreal and most of Day 1 is walkable once you're based there. To reach Mont-Royal on Day 2, take the 711 bus (seasonal schedule) or a rideshare up, then work your way down through the Mile End and Plateau on foot. Day 3 mixes a short metro hop to Marché Jean-Talon with another to Espace pour la Vie before finishing downtown in the Quartier des Spectacles. An OPUS card covers the metro and buses if you plan to use transit across multiple days.
