No debate …messi

Maradona is Maradona WC 1986 some days. Messi is at the highest level and most impactful everyday.

Messi is the king of Argentina

We're living in the Messi era, you won't realize how many moments Messi has given us until sometime had passed. He's magic, no one else is, football will dull when he leaves.

There attached to maradonna more to personal reasons than football reasons. Messi is by far head and shoulders above maradonna but it won’t matter to old heads. They’ll ignore the question of who’s better that football and just go straight to “characteristics of maradonna” which have nothing to do with football ability and talent 😂😂😂

Messi > anyone

i dont care who is the king of argentina or whatever , Messi is The king of the world, The Demigod who graced the field with such style and courage.

Argentinian here. i saw both Maradona and Messi in real time. Maradona was unbelievable, i thought we will never see somebody better. I was wrong.
Argentinian lefties/kirchnerists love Maradona, most of argentinian population rather Messi.
Maradona: a (wonderful) wc and a final
Messi: a wc, two finals, two copa américa and a finalissima

Messi without a doubt is the Greatest Of All Time 🐐 ❤❤❤

I mean 3 World Cup Finals( 1 World Cup won ) , 5 Copa Ameria finals (2 Copa Americas won) The most goals+ assists in World cups and Copa Americas vs 1 World cup (5+5) super performance , so it is obviously Messi if we are jusging based on individual stats and overall achievements, but Maradona made his 1986 performance in very special years for Argentina( After Folklen war and in severe economical situation) so...

Two absolute goats but Messi is just on a different level. 900+ goals 400+ assists, almost 50 trophies. Multiple world cup records. Messi eclipsed the great maradona.

A longer post:

Maybe it is a generational thing. Older generations prefer Maradona, because he reminds them of their youth. I did not have the chance to watch Maradona play, but I grew up with Messi and I am fairly confident no other player will be able to replace him in my heart.

Stats wise Messi is clear, but I don't think stats show the whole picture in football. Maradona was the best playmaker, passer and dribbler of his generation, but so is Messi + he is the best goalscorer. Messi is just more complete and his longevity speaks about his superior discipline and work ethic. Also I think Messi is more emotionally stable, mature and intelligent than Maradona. Some say Maradona had a stronger mentallity, but I not sure about that. He was never burdened with the expectations Messi carried on his back. Never. Messi was labeled the "new Maradona" back in 2006, while Maradona was just Maradona. I think Messi faced bigger pressure than Maradona.

Their personalities are very different. Maradona, alongside Iron Mike, was the embodiment of his era. He was a rebel. The 80's marked the end of the Cold War and many young people were inspired by the idea of a new world, more liberal and open. Look at the political movements (especially in Eastern Europe), the music industry, the movies. Maradona was a free spirit, didn't give a damn about any authorities, and that is why many young people around the world identified with him.

Messi lives in a completely different era where public perception is everything. He has better social awareness than Maradona and I don't see him praising any dictators like Maradona did. Messi is politically and ideologically neutral, because he is intelligent enough to understand that world processes are complex and they require deep understanding of cultural and historical context. That being said, Messi stands as an example how one should carry himself through life. His humility, his down to earth presence, his family, his deep faith - it is all there as an example for how  righteous man looks like. If all famous people and political leaders were like him, the world would be a much, much better place.

Of course, in the end of the day Messi is not Jesus Christ, but a football player and his life purpose is to give joy to people. And he does it better than anyone else I've ever seen in my life. ❤️

Edit: Personally, I identify more with Messi, because we are both 5'7 and introverted. 😅❤️

1 thing's for sure :
football ⚽ >>>>> handegg 🏈
❤😊

Messi is by far better player! Just check stats! :D

Guillermo Stabile in the 30s, Jose Manuel Moreno in the 40s, Alfredo Distefano in the 50s, Enrique Omar Sivori in the 60s, Mario Kempes in the 70s, Diego Maradona in the 80s/90s, Lionel Messi in the last two decades and in a few years we will see who will be the next one, have no doubt that he has already been born and maybe he is already playing because Argentine Football is an extraordinary and inexhaustible source of talents of the same lineage.

I think Messi is well-loved around the world compared to Maradonna.

Both are Kids of Argentina, im not Argentinian, but i will be proud of both as a Argentinian.
Messi is the better footballer and the Goat, but both are Kings and blessed by god for them Talent.

Messi is the fking King. Three WC finals and won one and he won three WC golden ball.

I think Maradona has that edge culturally.  He appears to be more humane and relatable to most people than Messi, who seems like he has a perfect life. No flaws, no scandals, stable family, has a wife and kids. Messi is like a perfect alien. Maradona was a flawed genius  who didn't have any inhibitions and didn't allow anything to stop him from showing his personality.  But on footballing terms, i dont think there is any debate. Not only is Messi a better player. Messi is also greater than Diego.

Maradona used to be the King of Argentina but Messi is slightly above him. Messi is the true King of Argentina🐐🇦🇷⚽
