One of the best things to be bought for $40 was a AM/FM battery/plug in radio. Runs on AA batteries or can plug into an outlet. I like listening to radio and if the power goes out I can catch an emergency broadcast.

And for US folks the Vermont Flannel Company makes a quality blanket and shirts.

I still use a Hudson's Bay point blanket, which I think was made in the 50s, when I go to my mom's cabin. It still works great.

I would suggest adding a fountain pen and notebook to Your set. I personally use Kaweco Sport and Travellers Notebook passport size. You can't buy one notebook for life, but you can buy quality notebook cover and refills. Another brand in "buy for life" range is Trangia. I use it every trip. Alcohol is cheap, ecological and easier to find in time of crisis than propane gas. I appreciate Your channel. Greetings from Poland.

Great video! I found a G shock AWG-100B at a garage sale for $2 and love it!

I also love my Hensons razor! I love the quality and I love not being locked into a proprietary razor and I can find the razor that works for me.

Video idea: 5 buy for another life items.

Go to estate sales and find 5 buy it for life items that have already lasted someone else's entire life. This is how I love to find tools and other quality items are great prices!

I had a 40 year career in TV news in Canada and bought a few of the items that you recommended. A Leatherman Wingman…a little heavier but all the tools I needed in the field. And a Casio 5610, tough solar and self setting with multiband 6. It looks similar to your G-Shock. The watch was purchased only a few years ago, but an accurate time piece was always needed during my career years so quartz watches and later smartwatches were helpful.

My mother gave me a leatherman skeletool and rebar when I graduated bootcamp, they served me well while in the navy and continue to serve me well after the fact.

Solar capacitor will still fail occasionally and need to be replaced, but it will definitely last much longer than regular battery

I feel that the Framework 13 (including pro) is a great programming laptop, but for video editing (especially in Linux with Davinci Resolve) the best bet is the Framework 16 with the Nvidia 5070 GPU

I like "buy it nice or buy it twice".

My exception to the rule is basic hand tools. I buy them cheap as they generally last. If the odd one does break, I'll then buy a nice one to last forever. Most of the cheap ones last forever so this is far better for my bank balance.

You'll see this in my channel where I work on cars, I'm generally using 'Parkside tools' from Lidl.
