"They blinded him...then ripped him down the middle. Not a nice way to go...maybe there is justice in this world."-Robert Muldoon on finding Nedry

Book Genaro was robbed, fought a raptor off without a weapon (albeit wounded)  and dies of dysentery mentioned in passing.

Costa Ricans believe that a newborn baby being visited by a bird….

Is a sign of good luck.

The death of the baby at the beginning of the first novel was so disturbing, even if you read the paragraph.

Jurassic Park deserves a mature cinematic series that stays faithful to the darkness of the books.

When I'm driving down the freeway and get a notification from Klayton

"Get off the stick! BLOODY MOVE!!"

Book Wu was proud that he was able to recreate the raptors, the fact they could naturally breed was proof he got it right.  Wu also wanted to go to the next  phase of genetic manipulation and wanted them to be more docile.  So book Wu was definitely the better Wu, just horrible he had to die

The teenager's death in the introduction, the description of him vomiting blood while whispering 'loso-raptor' is just chilling

The fact that Hammond’s death in the books is because the kids were messing with the sound system always makes me sad. So glad they never learn what caused their grandpa’s death!

Honorable mention for the park worker that Regis flew to the small Costa Rican clinic at the beginning of the novel. The way the American doctor mentally describes the guy's wounds. Deep slashes, defensive wounds on his hands. A slimy foam covering his torso wounds. "You said he got run over by an earth-mover?" The guy sits up, suddenly awake, eyes wide, terrified. "Lo-sa-raptor," are his last words before he violently vomits blood all over the exam table. The medical aide steps back in horror. The man continuously vomits blood, gurgling and thrashing in horror and pain as the team struggles to save him. After the guy dies, the doc asks the aide what "raptor" means. "It means 'hupia.' The doctor rolls his eyes. A "spirit" didn't kill that Ingen worker. Later that night, the doc looks up "raptor" in the dictionary. "Raptor: a bird of prey." And that's the PROLOGUE of the novel. I just got chills from just reciting that scene from my memory. I've read both books at least ten times apiece, and that scene lives rent-free in my head since I first read it like, 25 years ago.

Read both novels back-to-back recently. Have to say, Michael Crichton was a brilliant writer.

Other raptors: brutally mauling someone

That one raptor: "DIPS ON THE BUTTERFINGER!!"

Eddie Carr died a hero both times

The death of the worker at the start of the first book always stuck with me. Specifically, this sentence: "She looked at his arms, his hands... His hands. She felt a chill when she looked at the kids' hands." Regis had been saying the kid got dragged by a backhoe, but a backhoe would've crushed the effected areas. There was no crush injury, and a backhoe certaintly wouldn't have left defensive wounds on the kids' hands.

In the novel, the first victim was a park worker who was being attended to by Dr. Roberta Carter in a small hospital in Costa Rica. While his coworkers said that it was a construction accident, she was suspicious of the saliva and the claw marks on her patient.

Yeah, I have to admit the baby one was quite horrific. But that’s the point really because the first Jurassic Park was not just science-fiction but a horror as well.

what i like about the death scenes is how realistic and animalistic the attacks are. they remind me of those graphic safari videos about how carnivores hunted and eat their prey alive. i know crichton didn't want the books to be graphic, but he incorporated it in a tasteful way, no pun intended. although the newborn went a bit too far, but its understandable in context. i dont want a r rated film unless it has the animalistic and thematic spirit from the books, otherwise you'll end up with a carnosaur situation thats just about being sleazy

I think for me Nedry’s death in the book had the biggest impact. The description leads to a horrifying mental picture of what happened that I will never forget.

Imagine being in that situation. You slowly realize you’re blind, a huge creature coming towards you, and you’re helpless to stop it!

My favorite death in the books is the original dilophosaurus attack! I remember how shocked I was when I first read it!  It’s so much more gruesome than the movie!

Outstanding! The books far outweigh the movies in my opinion. I do enjoy the movies but I love the books more
