Aad van de Wetering, the Dutch grandmaster puzzle-maker, returns tonight with Border Thermos, one of the "harder Aads"!! (At least Simon found it tricky). It's nearly got 4 given digits too and, as so often with Aad's sudokus, it'll make you feel proud and pleased if you manage to solve it.

Rules
Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits separated by a single king's move (in chess) cannot contain the same digit. Digits along a thermometer must increase from the bulb end.

I was watching a solve on another channel and the solver used "Simon" as a verb to describe using the most complex way to find a digit. I found that funny.

I get that Simon doesn't like to pencil mark a lot of options on thermos, but him completely avoiding pencil marking the thermo starting in R1C1 when the remaining cells only had 2 candidates each was funny.

Simon always pokes fun at Mark for pencilling cell candidates on thermos, but I think there’s sometimes a pretty good case for poking fun at Simon for absolutely refusing to do it 😂

Checking for kings moves restrictions in the end should be pretty easy. Just click and hold 1 so all get highlighted and scan the grid. Then repeat of the other 8 digits.

Why did Simon not see that R1C1 is at least a 4 and at most a 6 (5 after the 9 in c1) when the other thermo is 123? Though it might not have helped solving
