"Judith" was Maynard's frustration with God. "Right in Two" was his frustration with man.

“The drummer is good.” Understatement of the century.

"Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, concious of its fleeting time here." So powerful.

So many religious people never give anything rock/heavy a chance. You guys are really refreshing! Thanks for your honest and well-thought out takes and appreciation.

It's not bongos it's an Indian instrument called a tabla. The drummer, Danny Carey was the student of an Indian tabla Maestro Alok Dutta. He's playing them on his drums by using a device which gives the tabla effect.

This song is legit one of Tool's best songs - ever.

I wish I could experience TOOL for the first time again, so jealous

I'm amazed the pastor didn't catch on the line "cut in two" and "cut it all right in two" it's a reference to king solomon's judgment when he proposed cutting in two a baby that was claimed by two women, one woman agreed saying that if she couldn't have him no one could while the real mother said spare the baby and give him to her. "Selfish ambitions"

Maynard should release a book of his lyrics and poetry.

22:09 "vicariously" Speaking of that, you've got another Tool song...

@ollyhudson9931 7 years ago

Just a footnote for you; the drums are Tablas.

Also, Tool doesn't have a drummer, they have a percussionist. That man plays any and everything live. Worth a watch.

Its not the headphones that are cool.....it’s Tool!

This song has gotten me through ruff times in my life. It’s so hard to be a humble person when the rest of the world isn’t. If there’s any youth from any background who is reading this and your going through some shit. Don’t give up. Things get better! Your not alone.!!

I am a blind musician who is a Christian and a very big fan of Tool. One thing I like about Maynard's lyrics is that they can be so broadly interpreted, no matter how you want to look at it, and he is very intelligent and does wonders with what he crafts. I would like to recommend another Tool song, titled Eulogy, it's off their Aenima album, one of my favorites by them.

Thank you for doing these videos.

I’m not religious myself, but knowing a pastor’s knowledge of spiritual and religious concepts, it’s good to hear him react to tool which always uses very very religious imagery
