Are you a taller / larger small motorcycle rider?  What are the best mods you've made to your smaller bike to get it to fit you better?

great note on the risers, I rolled mine forward and it made a huge difference. Also fantastic giving the measurements of the rider triangle (peg to handles) and peg to seats.  I'd been obsessing over a drz b/c all the "AI" tells me it'll fit a bigger rider better, except stock it's only 10% further from seat to pedal (as best i can tell until i can get a tape to a dealer that has one in stock...)  that's just not enough to help me justify a nearly $9k purchase.   Last ride offroad, I just felt like I was sitting directly over the back wheel.  so now I want to measure all the optional bikes to get a better feeling of if it'll actually help me feel comfortable.  Already done all the BPP suspension mods, so it's sell it for ~$4k and start again.  Or go whole hog and spend $1.5k in seat, BPP series 50 tires, rear swingarm extension, different sprocket and chain upgrades, new atv high rise bar to go with what i have already done.  I like the power, dislike that it's not quiet as agile as I'd like, but keep up great with my kid (on a KLX 140g) for now.

Great video! Being 67 and have bad knees, the stock height works for me, but in my younger years I would have loved all your mods, especially the seat to footpegs, make it much easier to go from sitting to standing position.

I'm smaller,  5'4", 28" inseam, & 155lbs., but I like the longer distance between foot pegs and handlebar.  The handlebar riser here looks a lot more secure than the 30mm you had.  I'm going to find these for my Triumph, which currently has spacers that don't actually keep the bars aligned with the fork.  The footpeg lowering is a cool option, but the wider footpegs have got to be a dream come true. It is also amazing what the stock bike will do.   I am 6Ft 4" and 390 lbs.   I did change the pegs, add some handguards, a bash plate, and a rack.   The bike works as is, while sitting down.  The mods look great if you need to stand up off road, but a bigger guy can still ride one in most places while sitting down.

great info! i'm 6'2" / 240 lbs with a 2014 TW200... i have a box of upgrades i need to put on, but looks like i need the pivot risers. are your bars stock? i have a pro taper atv high bar that i plan to use thats maybe 1-2" higher at the grips. wondering if i will have to get longer cables. that suspension info was really helpful too, esp to see the side-by-side w/ dimensions! thanks!!

Am considering this bike for the TAT cross country ride and with your modesit might be doable.
What else would be needed: resar rack, panier mounts, windscreen, high output stator…..?

Footpeg relocation, moved back, or forward?

Do you have the “Long travel off road shock” or the “heavy duty touring lift shock” everyone always says “heavy duty long travel shock”, which is a combo of both names😂

Very nice. I'm 6ft and also got the SC TALL seat. I found that the pitch forward when seated, while much better than stock, was still causing a perma-wedgie as I rode around. I took mine to a custom seat guy near me and had him remove the cover and shave the foam from 1 inch deep at the rear of the SC seat directly to the lowest part of the seat dip towards the front of the seat and then rewrap it. Now when seated my seat is almost (not quite) parallel to the ground. This stopped the wedgie problem, and I no longer get the hotspots where my bones sit on the seat because the flesh is no longer being pulled back as I slide constantly forward. Hope that made sense.

This is always the case. I used to have a friend and he’d say that every Japanese bike on the planet was designed for somebody who was 5’2” and weigh 220 lbs.😂 it’s sort of true I used to weigh about 350 now I’m about 260 but still every time I look at a bike I have to think about potentially buying new springs and shocks and rebuilding the forks and they should just know that in an American market, you should always just have a heavy duty model that already has all that stuff on it as an option. Half of your customers are gonna fit that, most bikes are rated for people up to about 190 pounds and I’ll be skinny as a rail at 190. A TW is not horrible and the DRZ in the KRL 650 R do better but almost all of the small engine bikes are made for tiny little people that’s kind of a given with a TW they should just have a beefy edition with a little better suspension and maybe a 250 with a six speed😂. Much better every dirtbike needs bar risers. I’m only 6 feet and they’re all too small.

I like the way you have a set up. I think it’s pretty much perfect.  

Just for fun if you’re ever around a dealer that has Kawasaki’s, see if they have the super Sherpa.  I think the new ones are 230 the old ones were at 250 but it kinda has almost the exact same geometry that you ended up with a model that a lot of people overlook.   I don’t think you would swap them out, but it might be fun to check it out if you’re around one.
