Ever wondered every time the UK had to censor SpongeBob before it aired to British audiences? We break down each edited scene, muted line, and trimmed moment, from violence and dangerous imitable acts to the specific standards that forced Nickelodeon UK to alter episodes.

A huge thanks to our dedicated and talented team, the writers, editors, researchers, voice actor, artist, and everyone else who helps make this channel what it is. Proudly producing clean content, free of AI.

I always thought the boots episode was an Edgar Allen Poe reference. He even buried them under the floor board.

Alot of the uncensored versions still ran in the UK, it was a 50/50 on which one they aired due to the way they stored their files for broadcast

No, when I was a kid, I did saw the health inspector scene being hit twice by both cops, and I LIVE, in the UK.

Well, the red mist scene was actually replaced with a scene of Squidward as a baby

So they buggered one of my favorite jokes, about Planketon looking like a booger.

I think the mental health stuff isn’t censored because they don’t want to talk about mental health in fact they have more measures in place to help and accommodate people with mental health disorders than in America but because they never wanna risk looking like their making fun of serious conditions and episodes like “are you happy now?” def veer the line into making mental health into a joke. But talking to someone about it before he gets depressed in the Kenny the Cat ep was a harmless enough joke bc at least he wanted to talk it out vs joking squidward might commit.

in the US we don't even say fanny very often and some people still don't know what it means but if they had just set a real pain in the behind, it would've worked for both countries. Still, some of these examples really highlight just how ridiculous the UK can be with their censorship some of these are beyond stupid.
