In this extraordinary travel documentary, I journey deep into Papua New Guinea to reach one of the most mysterious tribal communities I encountered during my travels — the Wii Towai Tribe. Far from the cities and traditional tourist routes, members of this community live surrounded by mountains and nature, preserving beliefs, rituals, and stories that have been passed down through generations.

My journey takes me to a sacred waterfall that holds a special place in their beliefs. For them, this is not simply a waterfall, but a place connected to the spiritual world and governed by rules that must be respected. Members of the community tell me that certain actions committed around the waterfall can bring curses or misfortune upon the tribe, which is why people are assigned to watch over and protect this sacred place.

During my time with them, I discover how some of their traditions are connected to birds, spirits, and nature, and I listen to stories about their ancestors and the forces they believe surround this place. I also learn about rituals performed when someone in the community becomes sick, including the role of sacrifices and traditional practices that remain part of their culture today.

I also discover another side of their relationship with the waterfall, where certain stages of life and social traditions carry special meaning within the community. For the Wii Towai, nature is not simply the environment in which they live — it is deeply connected to their spiritual and cultural identity.

My goal on this journey isn’t to present these supernatural beliefs as established facts, but to enter the world of this community and understand what they believe, why they believe it, and how these beliefs influence their everyday lives. Somewhere between reality, tradition, and legend, I find myself experiencing a culture radically different from anything I had encountered before.

From sitting with members of the tribe and listening to their stories to exploring the sacred waterfall and witnessing some of their traditions firsthand, this became one of the most unusual and fascinating cultural experiences of my journey through Papua New Guinea. 🌍✨
