I think what’s really important to realize about this album is when it was released and what was happening in Lana’s life at the time. It came out in 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, after a period where she was getting an insane amount of criticism and scrutiny over everything from her appearance and weight to her public statements and personal life. The album directly touches on pandemic isolation, body changes, the media’s perception of her, complicated family relationships, and her friendships with other women. Lana even described the album as basically telling her life story and said that the criticism she was receiving pushed her to dig deeper into her family history. When you listen to it with all of that context, the messier, more intimate and almost diary-like nature of the album makes so much more sense. It feels less like an album trying to create a specific aesthetic and more like a snapshot of where she was emotionally at that exact point in her life.

Not Suly living for the Picsart single covers 😭

A lot of people refer to this album as underwhelming but honestly it's my favorite Lana album and the project that made me fall in love with her music

no shade, used to be my least fav Lana album, now its my number one, this one is low-key a grower <3

YESSS. This album is not talked about enough!

Unironically my favorite album of hers! It’s so urban street summer jazz for me

this album will forever remind me of the covid era, and the fact that even visually this album seeming almost faded of color is a mirror of what the covid era looks like in my memories - faded, a little warm, and lonely.

Blue banisters u will forever be lovedd 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎 so underrated

GIRL I PROMISE THEY GROW ON YOUUUU

I love this whole album but all her albums 😅

Blue Banisters has some of the best lyrical writing of all of her albums. Until Ocean Boulevard, this was my favorite of her albums (though I know a lot of people like NFR best). Just the symbolism of a man helping her paint her banisters blue and her friends helping her paint them green and gray. Blue is the color of fresh bruising, and green and gray are the colors of a healing bruise. So she's basically talking about being hurt and disappointed by a man, and her friends helping her heal after. I like the albums where she is vulnerable the best.

Blue banisters the song is abt finding stability relief ,and peace……read the lyrics carefully……one of the best songs by her

Edit:Blue banisters refer to feeling blue (sad)…….later she changes the lyrics to green(lush like forest) and grey(as if the blue of sadness is fading)

Blue Banisters my take: She had a man, that didn't live up to his promises, not being someone to raise kids with. Now she's older, and may never have kids of her own, so she's in her sisters' lives more, being the best auntie

her 2 new albums are going to be amazing..... like idc how long they take to come out I feel in my bones that her words and sounds are going to be what we need!

Defitnely in my top 3 albums by the legendary lana
