Cat from season 1: a little dumb, but still somewhat normal
Cat from season 2-onwards (+ Sam & Cat): 1 + 1 = 5

Its crazier when you watch the first season of victorious and compare THAT to her character on sam & cat. Its a different person

Both Cat and Jade become so flanderized as the show goes on. They go from archetypes to stereotypes.

Jade annoys me the most cause whenever fans refer to Jade they use words such as goth or emo, when she is not even close to those styles at all.

S1 Jade was never a goth, she was Punk-Rock-Alt.

S2,3 and 4 Jade is light goth at best.

But Cat is just a travesty. She changes so much that you can only be forgiven for thinking Ariana Grande took over the role from a different actress.

My head canon is Cat was using black market hair dye that leeches into her brain.

I don’t have anywhere else to place this theory but-  as someone who has CPTSD from childhood trauma, with Cats history with her brother and living in the school for a short period of time I think it’s safe to assume the writers made Cat “ lobotomized“ because she’s trying to escape reality and just kinda wants to go off into her own world, there are many times in the show where she openly disassociates when stressed or just straight up runs away screaming. But I also agree with the fact that it got the more views so they just kept going with it until we got Sam and Cat.

Don’t waste your time if you’re watching this video for a breakdown of cat’s character or something like the title would suggest. He just brings up some random episodes and recaps them, only mentioning cat’s character in the intro and outro with surface level comments here and there, but none of it correlates to her development over the course of the show.

but you got to admit: them getting oscar-winner shirley jones to guest star was pretty dripping

I think when it comes to Sesame Street...Cat's favorties would be Bert and Ernie. She's say "They are welcome to live their lives no matter who they are! Love is love!" And JADE would say "Cat. THEY ARE PUPPETS. IT'S NOT COMPLICATED!" Rex: HEY! I'm right here, I heard that, girl!"

We NEED to talk about that April Fools episode of victorious

I personally love Victorious's Cat, in every season. ( Sam and Cat is what ruined Cat. she was no longer the same at all, een as far as losing her vocal music talent apparently in one episode I saw ). I think it makes sense for her mental decline with dealing with her psychotic brother and her parents only paying attention to them ( as well as possibly fighting a lot due to the clue of her getting scared and fainting whenever people fight or cover her ears, repeating "I'm under my bed" ) she doesn't have a safe home life and her mental issues were ignored. Jade even made an offhand comment in one episode that she knew Cat was going mentally insane, but she just thought it'd be more slower/gradually than this ( yes it was because they were without their phones and she was playing with the dog squeaky toy, but still )

also in that cupcake parade episode, Sikowitz did NOT run away from them and abandoned them on that street! he went to go get help and he only ran because he was scared, which he ended up getting jumped anyway and got his pants stolen. he also got help from cops! ( one being the future actor of Captain Man from Henry Danger ) but the cops just thought he was drunk or crazy and tried to arrest him. the only time Sikowitz ever tried to ditch them was in season 1 in that ping pong episode where Robbie orders an insane amount of caviar and the check was way more expensive than they thought and he tried to secretly dine and dash while they were distracted....but he came back D:

21:02 calling robbie ‘robert’ is frying me

One thing I never really understood, which is slightly unrelated to the topic of this video, is that they never really wore clothes underneath certain clothes they wore in the show. Like the candy pajamas in the parade episode, and the episode with the jean/jacket/hoodie from the episode where Sikowitz(?) dares them to say yes to everything.

I don't know if there's other episodes, but I always found it weird considering the gag of it all being "omg we're completely nude and trapped in our clothes."

The real question should be: What Did Dan Schneider Do To Cat Valentine because I don't think Ariana really had much control over the writing for Cat

In prom wrecker , Cat wasn’t lying about already having a date . She went out with a guy that had a weird hat

Tbh I don’t agree with the consensus of “Cat changed significantly after Season 1”. To me, she was still the same in Season 2. It was the 3rd season where she (and the show in general) got dumbed down and sillier, and even then, she was smarter than her “Sam and Cat” version.

Siiiigh YouTube still hasn't fixed the issue where comments will just randomly appear on the wrong video?

Thank you for hearting my comments so I could find and delete them.

It has been a while since I have watched a video of yours. I really like your focus on the shows from the 2000s.

I love that they all have mental issues in one way or another

kinda funny that her character is the "dumb blonde" but she has red hair (even though Italian American women often bleach their hair)
