#tenaciousd #kickapoo

In this edition of #thedailydoug, I'm taking a look at a song by the American rock/comedy duo Tenacious D...featuring Jack Black and Kyle Gass. As I say in the video, I've seen some of Tenacious D over the years, but for some reason I never realized that they had done a full movie. Kickapoo is thte opening song from the musical comedy and features guest vocals from Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio! This is a fun romp, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Fun fact: when Dio recorded his part for the album, he did it on his first take and just stayed with JB and the rest of the crew who nerded over him for hours

Tenacious D is a legit band. Jack and Kyle are both amazing musicians. You need to go through their catalog.

I love how they got Meatloaf to sing on it and cameo in the movie as the Dad.

The Pick of Destiny is the movie that baited me into watching an actual musical because of it's theme :D

This would be an amazing first movie reaction, so many good songs and cameos! Definitely looking forward to that possibility!

This is the first time I noticed that there is almost no instruments playing during Dio's lines.
It's almost all just his voice.

6:05 The one poster he didn't take down, whose name just so happens to stand for God

This movie is pure an unadulterated love letter to rock and metal music. Every musician should see it even if they do not care for rock music :)

Dio means God in italian. So after Meatloaf (dad) closes the door telling young JB to praise the lord while in his home... JB does exactly that... prays to Dio

I wonder if he knows that Kyle gass is the youngest person to ever graduate from julliard for classical guitar.

Dio brought his own mic to this recording, but the staff really wanted them to use his. When he promptly blew their mic out with his voice he told them that was why he always brings his own. The man destroys microphones, that's one powerful voice.

And yeah, you NEED to see this movie.

You must now watch the scene directly after this....'CLASSICO'

RIP Meatloaf and DIO two damn legends 🤘

Just so you know the video you watched/listened was a half note sharper than the original key of the song

I absolutely LOVE this movie. The fact that it was a box office bomb is seriously disconcerting.

You should have done Classico straight after! I’m sure you’d have appreciated it as a classical composer 😂

The fact that dio did this in basically 1 take is amazing too

Tenacious D have brought me countless hours of joy for more than 20 years, ever since their first album was released. Just re-watched the Pick of Destiny a couple of weeks ago and it still holds up, even though I've seen it at least 10 times.
