MOM & DAUGHTER WATCH THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS (2026) FOR THE FIRST TIME! We're back with another Mom & Daughter Reacts, and this time it's Tessa (Mama's Geeky) and Lori diving into the highly anticipated Prime Video adaptation of Ali Hazelwood's bestselling novel! Going in with almost zero knowledge of the book, we were fully along for the ride with the fake dating trope from the very beginning, and this movie delivered exactly the kind of fun, swoony chemistry we were hoping for.

Watching Olive's plan to fake date the intimidating Professor Adam Carlsen spiral into something real was such a fun watch, and their banter had us hooked almost instantly. We loved subverting the "only one bed" trope with the movie's own twist, and the little details, like the note about "two beds, told ya," were such a fun touch. Adam's blunt, no-filter personality had us laughing throughout, and his soft side slowly coming out was so sweet to watch. We also got invested in the harder moments, including Ahn dealing with an incredibly uncomfortable situation with a colleague, and the emotional weight of Olive's family backstory. That happy "years later" ending had us completely satisfied, and we walked away wanting to read the book immediately!

Lili Reinhart (Riverdale) stars as Olive Smith, a brilliant Ph.D. candidate who impulsively kisses her way into a fake relationship. Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express) plays Adam Carlsen, the notoriously intimidating professor with a secretly soft side. Rachel Marsh plays Ahn, Olive's best friend, and Nicholas Duvernay plays Jeremy. Jaboukie Young-White and Arty Froushan round out the supporting cast. The film is directed by Claire Scanlon.
