Moviebob the type of guy to accuse me of not being a good black man because I watch Deadwing Dork

Moviebob is the human embodiment of that meme where it shows the fedora guy bragging about how he owned someone with facts and logic, then it pans away and he's talking to himself and there's a group of people standing on the other side of the room chatting with each other. (Edit: Great, I also drive a Prius)

"The Spartans aren't very diverse..." Gee it's almost like they're all humans and groups of a single species tend to look similar.

The Virgin 8 minute review

The CHAD 23 minute sketch

DeadWing has become a YouTube guidelines friendly metokur.

Bob has this habit of using absolutely nothing but strawman arguments, viciously attacking that strawman and misrepresenting the entire argument, then pulling back and minimalizing what he said and telling you that you're overreacting. It's actually used a lot in abusive relationships.
(Edit: I wrote that, then later on he literally had a character named strawman in a video, wow.)

"I use bigger words than you.  That make me smarter than you and everything you think is wrong. Women are oppressed.  Does Lindsay Ellis love me yet?  What about those other gamerer gate girls.  I'm a well cultured male.  I pretend to read books.  What do you mean you can be an alpha male on Twitter?"

I feel like Moviebob's way of explaining things is the extreme opposite of how Vsauce does it. Vsauce is clear, explains with easy-to-understand language and can connect one topic to another while taking listeners on a ride to some weird tangent that's actually the point and it makes sense.

Bob is confusing, uses long words and prefixes to sound smart but further confuses listeners, all the while acting like a long drag race, going faster the longer he goes and at the end, it leaves you startled cuz of how abrupt the stop is. And then you're left thinking, 'what's the actual point again'?

Could just be me. Maybe I'm the frickin' dumb dumb for going all static in the brain listening to Movie Bob.

I followed Moviebob since his earliest YouTube Days and I feel like he’s never been covered as much as he could be. Most people on YT who cover him lean very right without really seeing how much more crazy is there.
So I’ll do my experience. I found Bob in late 2007 around the time his channel started. He had a blog spot page (now abandoned) and he mostly talked about games and movies. He had some left leaning views but was willing to have discussions. Also if you were a Nintendo fan in the 2000s, it was hard dealing with the Halo/GTA Xbros complaining about the “kiddie system” that was selling gang busters (now We have the NitroRads, Antdudes and Scottywozes).
Bob for his first 30 or so videos were great. Then he got picked up by Screwattack and the Escapist and was doing well for himself. Even that “Building a better gamer” video was slightly less degrading because at the time he was blogging about getting in shape.
I think his downfall began in 2011 which was around the time he joined Twitter.  Ironically there’s a review he did of the movie “The Social Network” where he says he’s not a fan of social media.
Basically after the “Heavens to Metroid” episode was when his Game Overthinker show started going downhill. He started doing the stupid skits. He got more pissy and aggressive in his tone. He got way more political (look up his side channel “American Bob”). And it was just a free fall after that.
I don’t know what caused Bob to change. Maybe his Twitter addiction sucked out his brain. Maybe like Chris, he was a virgin with rage because he also couldn’t get a girlfriend. Who knows.
Thanks for listening.

I wasn't even born yet when both Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night came out and even I could tell the difference between the 2 games.

47:41 my absolute man standing up for Dragons Crown

every video is him going through mental purity gymnastics to justify his gamer identity over other people with the same gamer identity

The way he speaks in all his videos reminds me of a speech I had to do in elementary school. I wanted to sound smart so I just grabbed a thesaurus and didn’t use any regular words. I have a strong feeling that Bob is using the same tactic

His style is such a walking contradiction, because his videos are absolute garbage quality with writing that is even cornier than Doug Walker, and I never thought I would actually say that. The contradiction is that he thinks he's probably one of the smartest people to ever live, and you'd think that he would apply that vast knowledge into making a video that doesn't look like it was put together by a 10-year-old.

2:07:47 It's sad because the idea they had for Lara Croft wasn't a bad one, they wanted to address the whole "ludonarrative dissonance" thing with her character where she gradually got used to killing people, but the problem was it wouldn't be riveting gameplay to have Lara hesitate during a shootout, and she would flip back and forth between being super willing to kill people and traumatized.

I think its dumb to say joker is bad without watching it

Moviebob defended cuties

Speaking of Escapist, think Claw will ever talk about Jim Sterling?
