I remember playing this as a kid without any guide. It took me awhile, but I beat it. It was very rewarding, this game does have a neat exploration factor.

I live where parts of the Goonies were filmed in Oregon, and I would note that the Goonies House is, of course, still standing, though the current owners tend to be a bit cranky about people wanting to see the house. Also, there have been Mini-Cons featuring public viewings of the movie with stars, as well as Q&As.

simply amazing. I played when I was 9 years old (approximately) - after a while I forgot about this game and could not remember for a long time! A colleague asked if I played Dendy in my childhood? And then I decided to dig into old games and suddenly came across this work of art! I never went so far, especially to the end! How many hidden places ... There were no instructions and walkthroughs. It would have taken me a million years! But this feeling of loneliness and ... no words ... thanks to the author for a wonderful memory from our childhood ... God, how quickly we grow up and age ...

This was my favorite game when I was a kid!

How about that! Garry got the day off!

Great video Professor! Only ever had this one for rent, was never able to sort out where to go and when. Good to finally see the end! Great class, as always!

This was my first NES game. I got my Action Set NES which included only Hogan’s Alley (when the zapper was still NES gray). Having played Goonies 1 in the arcade, when I saw Goonies II was available, I asked my parents to get it as my non-zapper game.

Somehow, it was a good this this game was cryptic and hard as in the 80’s, video games weren’t cheap. We only got 2 or 3 games a year: 1 for Christmas, 1 for birthday and one for getting good grades in school😊

I really loved and knew this game by heart.

Sean Astin throwing molotov cocktails at skeletons.

My main memory of this game is the excitement of uncovering the secret doors and safes by hitting the walls.

I still have this game. I used to live playing video games. Recently we pulled out all of my old games,  and systems. The only system that was a disappointment to me was the Sega CD upgrade. I saved up for it, and got the cyberpunk game, but they stopped selling the games in my town shortly afterwards. So the only Sega CD game I had was cyberpunk. It's a good game, but not worth the cost of the Sega CD attachment. My two sons are going nuts over all my old systems, and games. I had a couple hundred for the Nintendo. I had the  Atari 600, 1200, 2400, 2800, then the Odyssey, Nintendo, game boy, and almost every system through the PlayStation 3. Also more games then people realize. I know they are worth a good amount of money, but happier that my two grown Sons are enjoying them. They are both college professors at the same university, and my Sons play them with their students. I had a stroke several years ago, and went completely blind. I was able to get my eyesight back after a few years and several surgeries. After that it changed me. I just can't get into playing video games anymore. I also think that one of the best games that I loved for Nintendo was the magic of sheharazod. They also have some of my old computer gaming setups with games like leasure suit Larry. They even have been using a couple of old televisions to play some on. The surprise part was that my youngest Son has a project for one of his classes where they are to make a outfit using the old games for inspiration. It is funny to see them playing the games at the campus together like when they were kids. I know it is now valuable, but this I think is the best use. I also had some bizarre games that are not actually a game like taboo. It is supposed to read your future or astrology. I do laugh alot that the old video games are now cool again, my old clothes are in fashion. Lol I am at the point where they came out, then went out of fashion, and now everything is back in fashion again. Although the tan  corderoy suit should stay lost to fashion history.

You know, the cave walls in the underwater sections remind me a lot of the walls from the Dam level in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game - which makes sense since both games were developed by Konami. Just goes to show how often assets were re-used back in those days.

I just beat Goonies II for the first time a few days ago.  I never thought I would have as much fun as I did exploring this game.  Once you realize that you need to use the fist, hammer, and glasses on EVERYTHING, it actually becomes a pretty straight-forward game (with the exception of getting the candle and hyper shoes).  But I think I have a new favorite NES game.  It took me a few weeks to beat it. I wrote down the password several times. Next time, I'll try to beat it in one sitting.

Oh! It's an old man. I always thought they were like penguin people or something with the beard being a beak.

I am glad you mentioned the similar sound effects to Zelda. The room music is what caught me since it sounds like dungeon music. Also the boomerang.

I had this game! It was pretty cool, and at the time difficult!! A ton of trial and error finding the Goonies! Movie is probably my all time favorite!! Great movie, wish thwy had done a sequel way back then......STILL wishing for one!

Hours of playing this as a kid at my cousins house. Never got a quarter of the way through. Think we found two of the Goonies. Just a maddening game to play with no guide or help

Always loved this game back in the day. Maybe even had a strategy guide. 😂

Thank you for this. I think I got that game 36 years ago. I probably got 15 hours of playtime and do it. That is the most unintuitive game I have ever played.

shout out to the Cindi Lauper track. memories

That harpoon weapon when you're underwater might as well be the Cain from Jeckyl and Hyde
