Where does the universe end, and what lies beyond? We speak with Alexander Panov, an astrophysicist and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He works at Moscow State University, studying cosmic ray physics, and in winter, he conducts observations near Lake Baikal, where his group searches for signals from extraterrestrial civilizations and traces of primordial black hole evaporation.
This episode: how vast is the Universe, why is it larger than its age, and why we will never see some galaxies. We discuss the expansion of the Universe and the Hubble stress, dark matter and dark energy, DESI data and the most distant galaxies of the James Webb Space Telescope, whether the Universe is infinite and whether it can be closed, the multiverse, and the hypothesis that each of us is an exact copy. And finally, what might lie beyond the edge and whether there are questions that science will never answer.
