Badger 7 Actual out.

Anti tank weapons are very rare and expansive in wasteland. Basically it was simpler and cheaper to just send men

The reason they didn't attack from their 6 or any other direction is because the solar arrays were directly behind the building. They are too valuable to be destroyed. Helios is useless without them. Both sides basically agree that fighting there is a bad idea.

Here's some important context I picked up from other people while watching this project progress over the last few years:

1. The NCR has a population of around 700k 1 Million give or take at this time, so they very much have a large pool of manpower to draw from and sacrifice as needed (for wasteland standards anyways).
2. The NCR's main objective in this battle was to seize Helios One, not destroy the BoS. Therefore, they did not entirely encircle the objective so that they could allow the BoS the option to retreat. After that first major engagement, it seems the NCR then switched to a full encirclement.
3. Because of the value of capturing Helios One, the NCR deliberately chose not to use artillery/mortars lest they risk destroying their objective and make the whole battle pointless.
4. For the NCR in the Mojave specifically, it is more practical for them to sacrifice conscripts as a screening force than it would be to risk their Sapper team getting killed early on. While the NCR does have the industry necessary to produce more AT weapons, logistical issues plague the Mojave army which is why they don't have equipment for proper integrated squads.
5. The NCR Rangers are an entirely separate entity from the NCR Military, and since this battle is firmly a Military operation, the Rangers were not beholden to participate in this battle. They only entered combat when the Colonel explicitly requested their help out of desperation, which they obliged. Refer to comment below

Anyone is free to correct me or otherwise add on. Hope this puts things into a clearer perspective!

NCR Rangers are not really part of the NCR army. They actually are an almost completly independent group, however they support the NCR. Thats why General Moore only requested their aid after the situation went worse. She is in lore known to be a staunch conservative in almost everything and typicly called to create more graves than results during battle.

Both armies are making tactically sound choices. The NCR are using equipment they can’t replace to take a power plant with infrastructure that’s impossible to repair. They attack with the sun behind them to minimize accidents especially with the heavy weapons. The demolition teams use EMP grenades and much smaller charges too. Their the closest thing to a modern army 200 years after the apocalypse so they haven’t needed to learn some lessons but their starving like the rest of the world.

One 50 minute animation is more entertaining and takes itself more serious than the entire fallout show.  That is wild

The battle of Helios 1 was largely 130 Brotherhood of Steel vs. between 1000-2000 NCR. The BoS were only able to hold out as long as they did due to superior firepower and tech.

14:22 A mix of metal, ceramic, military polymer. They are punch you with scaled down Tank armor basically.

I know comments said it as yeah, when you look into NCR lore, it start to makes sense when you realize that if rockets are extremely rare, best not to have it be in the charge where they'd fall rapidly. Plus, the reason why the AT guys came in late is likely because they were with the colonel,  as rangers are a mix of sheriffs, commandos, and scouts, meaning they're seen as special forces.

The NCR has a population of over 700 thousand by the time of New Vegas and are constantly conquering or forcing new settlements and factions to join them. Yes they can afford this. By contrast thats everything the Mojave chapter has. They have at best 150/200 members at the start of this battle.

NCR was basically a small nation they had a lot of men to throw at the enemy and weren’t afraid to do it

The NCR army you see fighting here is only one army they have. This is simply the NCRs Mojave army created to defend hoover dame from the Legion and defend the NCRs eastern territory from other threats. The NCR has several times this numbers in soldiers all across its territory. Every single one has diffrent levels of equippment though.

The thing about AMR and artillery is that for the NCR it's in limited supply. Bodies are more easily produced than advanced weapons.

More info for my guy. The ncr rangers gear with the gas mask gets 2 lowlight functions 3 night vision settings (think gen 2 pretty much) and thermal. The gas mask is designed for radiation mainly and the body armor is good for handguns and mid sized ar bullets like 5.56. the ncr favors infantry based tactics if this is general Olivers operation. Rangers seen here are extra hi speed. Troopers get limited kit outside of special circumstances or specialized units.(See first recon) Tactics are derived from pre war generals at Anchorage or gobi. (Ww2 based mainly). It's crazy to think how much research sodaz did for this. This could be canon

Always happy to see more people react to this. Just like the fallout universe, most people rather the NCR over the BoS. We BoS are always outnumbered..

It's sad to see 2 NCR Veteran Rangers died inside Helios One.. Since they had 20 years of training.. And well all they did is just to claim back Helios one

For a lot of the Ncr’s strategies, let’s just say they’re not shy about wasting troops lives lol

31:22 yes but at the same time no. In this battle the NCR has 3 advanced AT launchers, thats it. Making them is practicly impossible for the NCR as they dont really know how. They cannot simply attach this three AT guys and their support staff to the regular infantry because than they would have been seen, targeted and killed by the BoS immediatly. Instead the Infantry was the bait to lure the Paladins out and to conceal the approach of the AT team. Remember this are not regular modern armys, these are post nuclear apocalypse armys. You also see thar when the Sentry Bots first attack, the Sappeurs as weapons and explosive specialists during training probably heard about Artillery but the average rifleman has no idea what artillery is and what it does. Thats why they reacted so slow to the sound of mortars.

Ah love to see another reaction to this
