Looking back, I believe your videos helped me discover Barry Harris. I now am a total disciple and practice it everyday. Thank you.

Good stuff! Thanks

Thanks. Very useful.

"normal people" oof haha, I'm still gonna use the term diminished-diminished because even though materially it means the same as "diminished scale", it emphasises the fact that it can be used the exact same way as any other "X-diminished scale"

Thanks!!! Brilliant stuff!

Good explanation, Christian. You answered some questions I had. Could you do a video explaining how, when, and where to use Barry's 7b5 dim and dominant 7 dim scales? I don't understand how those fit into the overall scheme since it seems that everything can be covered with the major and minor b6 dim scales. Chris Parks and Isaac Raz move thru this stuff a little too fast for me. :-)

Great video. Can you recommend any of your videos that explains the stuff you are using here, like the drop 2 scale thing? Cheers, sorry for being so vague!

I still struggle with the idea of borrowing. It’s a either a major, a minor or a dominant and then you have extensions. The extra options exist in every philosophical sphere.  You can build harmony and walk chords up and down using any scale like Dorian, Whole Tone or even Pentatonic. I get the application of this concept as it relates to Barry’s pretty 6th diminished system, but it still seems limited when confined to its particular framework. Unless I’m missing something of course...

Btw for the C6, 3rd inversion, drop 2 on the top strings have you tried using your middle finger to bar the C and G? I did it first the way you do it here but from switching to the bar I found I can play the scale much more fast and connected. Cheers
