2. Doesn't realize that he'll have to pay to distribute the 'game'
3. Liable to get sued, for Copyright infringement and potential jail time for extortion..
4. All of this for 200$ in steam items, which once again just adds a papertrail to him..

Yeah, that scam just simply does not work, but it is genuinely disgusting to look at.

When I was searching for a job I applied a place called lemon games or something like that right. They gave me a task (after 3 month of not responding) which was about copying a random game. To be able to interview with them, I needed to clone a game, 'as close as you can get' was a requirement. Of course I've just ghosted them never even bothered to respond. But I feel like there are "companies" which specifically build around this scam.

Its like "give me money or I'll release this garbage at my own detriment".

LET THEM TRY. Their token price cost would be more expensive than that. LMAO.

If you don't pay me, I'm going to release a much worse, bare-bones, concept version of your game.

1. spend hundreds in tokens to clone a game
2. dox yourself setting up a dev steam account to publish the clone
3. get the game pulled because original dev tells on you
4. get sued for blackmail
5. profit?

You can ABSOLUTELY create slop with AI, even good looking slop based on existing ideas. Slop will not sell and when the unskilled realise this they will move onto the next "make a buck quick" scheme. All we have to do is wait it out until the hype is over and then AI becomes a very good tool for skilled people. Simple, just hang on while all this crap dies down.

They probably didn’t generate a game, they probably just made a video that looks like a copy using ai. Scams don’t need merit. They need to elicit an emotional response.

It's never worth it to scammers to actually follow through. They just cast a wide net and enough people freak out and pay. They don't even care about the ones that don't.

These likely aren't games, they are just videos generated via AI that replicate the game.

"Congratulations, you played yourself."

"Tomorrow i will publish your game!" -Oh wait i need to apply for a steampage with all my private info including ID and adress, and oh i need to wait 3 weeks for steams approval as well.
If a scammer publish your stolen game, the scammer also makes itself really easy to get caught and prosecuted.
