I tidy up the temporary pinned layout from Ep. 64 and unbox my latest batch of very cheap train set purchases.
Apologies if it's a bit long and waffly, I am just relaxing and checking out what I bought!

Best video opening ever: N gauge... and a hammer. Brilliant.
Tony playtrains catch a Japanese video or two: they are a lot more than they appear. In fact due to adult customer demand Tomy have recently released their detailed line, with full interiors, lighting, full pantographs etc, for enthusiasts.
Isn't it funny: all these Hobbyists bemoaning the price of things nowadays, and here you are probably getting more enjoyment for minimal outlay.
Its an awkward thing: I recently bought the usual box of rubbish at a train show for a negligible amount.
What piqued my interest was a dublo sir Nigel with a märklin skate, but intriguingly a switch in the cab. Investigation showed a bridge rectifier to run on märklin AC. But poignantly, there was a Athol body, and a princess Elizabeth loco in bits, both missing many parts.
Sadly, after 70 odd years survival, I threw most of the bits out. I kept both bodies for absolutely no reason bar I couldn't bear the thought of throwing them in the bin.
With prices they just don't warrant any expenditure on them.
Fascinating H0 set. I'm guessing Hong Kong made for the direct US importer. I couldn't find anything about the set. And band drive isn't (wasn't) actually that common. There was a lot of that going on then. Probably more familiar over there is playcraft, which, of course, was manufactured by Jouef, but neither sold, advertised, or even branded as Jouef.
Most importantly and weirdly of all: that's my wife's name on your beer.

I really like those early acetate triang models. The wonky warped bodies just add to the charm. I actually go out of my way to buy it. But run it on series 3 because The standard track is often a bit difficult to use as the road bed shrinks and warps but the rails obviously stay the same size. There was a brief period just before series 3 arrived when standard track was made using a more stable poly plastic. But its a bit hard to find.
