Worth mentioning that raw and burnt umber are strong driers, which isn’t easy to emulate without siccatives.

Hi Dianne, I love your channel. Do you think the "hue" of Burnt Umber could lean more towards blue rather than red? The earth tones you have seem like primaries. Would love to hear your thoughts please! Thank you x

very practical and easy to follow lesson. i agree about the variation you can get with mixing your own colors. sometimes the 'out of the tube' can feel a bit flat. thank you so much!!

Theoretically you could mix every color but a few. But why. I will never understand this fascination like a badge of honor. I spent more time mixing than painting.

I wish I had your color talent Di, me I just don’t have the patience or quality control drive that the good artists [like you ] have so I use tube colors as much as possible. Which helps explain why my work doesn’t sell.

I’d love to know how you store your palette with that paint on there! Don’t they dry up on you or skin over? I know some will stay wet for days but do they all? Do you cover it?

I got rid of my earth colors 4 years ago and my paintings have improved significantly; much richer and alive. If I need to neutralize a color, I adjust the chroma with the opposite color. Thanks for the video.
