In this video, we rank the 5 most skilled NHL forwards connected to Pavel Datsyuk’s era, using puck control, vision, skating, deception, shooting, creativity, and overall hockey ability as the standard. This is an editorial ranking based on the public record, game film, and the careers surrounding Datsyuk—not a private list personally submitted by Datsyuk.
The countdown features five legendary forwards:
🏒 #5 Steve Yzerman — The Detroit Red Wings legend who evolved from an explosive scorer into an elite two-way center and captain.
🏒 #4 Sergei Fedorov — A rare combination of speed, puck control, scoring, defensive ability, and versatility. Fedorov could attack, defend, kill plays, and even play defense at an elite level.
🏒 #3 Sidney Crosby — A master of puck protection, edgework, balance, backhand skill, and creating offense in extremely tight spaces.
🏒 #2 Wayne Gretzky — The greatest offensive playmaker in NHL history, combining extraordinary vision, anticipation, hands, passing, and hockey intelligence.
🏒 #1 Mario Lemieux — A unique physical and technical package combining size, reach, hands, power, deception, passing, and finishing ability.
