I miss the days when you could be poor and still afford the big music festivals. Even as a student it was possible to save for the ticket, and when you were there, there were always some cheap, no frills food stands so you could eat on a budget.
I think it was in the late 00s I first noticed the more ‘gourmet’ options appear. It was a novelty if you had the money - and the food was better quality - but you could still go cheap if you wanted to.
Now every event is wall-to-wall ‘fancy’ food and most of it isn’t actually very good - in quality or taste!
I go to the Christmas in July craft fair in my small community in central Kentucky. Goat milk soap. Local honey. Local produce. Small jewelry, crochet, printed t-shirts, etc. Even a santa in beach clothes. 😅 No admission fee. No MLM booths!
This is a shame, I remember when I was a kid going to state fairs. Tickets were $10-$15 per person unlimited times to ride and the parking was always free.
