THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT HOW DARK AND SCARY THE ORIGINAL FAIRYTALES WERE.  I HAD NO CLUE THESE MOVIES EXISTED.

"Alma gives Elvira the antidote, removes the tapeworm, and escapes."

Well, that was a lot quicker and less traumatic than I remember it being...

Agnes still didn’t have a happy ending despite being Cinderella. She married a prince who only liked her beauty, lost her boyfriend, both of her parents, and her childhood home to financial ruin. Everything she did was also in survival. Elvira and Alma are more free than Agnes.

The Lure tells the real story, with the exception of a few added details. The Little Mermaid fairy tale never gets her prince. When she walks it's like a thousand knives stabbing her. In the end, she dissolves into sea foam as her prince chooses another. Disney fair tale movies aren't made to fit the full stories. It would traumatize modern children.

As a Pole, I have to thank you for covering The Lure :) That movie really deserves some more recognition.

As someone that's a lifelong fan of Fairytales, this video beautifully highlights just how dark and complex they can be. They're never "just for kids."

Hot take: Elvira was never ugly.
Edit: Beverly Marsh is doing side quests in that Hansel and Gretel movie

The Lure is a really good lesson for adolescent people about how to form proper relationships and not hurting someone or yourself. The second someone says they're not interested in dating, give up and move on to another person. Immediately stop trying, do not ask twice, do not follow at their heels, do not change yourself to fit what they want thinking they'll change their mind. When they said no they meant it, when you change yourself all you do is force the other person into fake dating you out of pity and guilt for what you've done to "win them over", and that's why so many people are dating who don't like each other or even get along. But eventually they remember that they didn't want to be with you, and that forcing themselves to humor you because you're destroying yourself or threatening to die or saying you can't live without them, is a fake life and you're actually forcing them int something using their emotions of your pain being their fault, they'll even resent you and blame you because you pushed them into a relationship instead of it being a mutual, natural falling in love from both sides.

Don't do anything to yourself, don't change anything, just accept the other person said no, and now continue living and meet one of the billions of other people and one of them will like you the way you are, and will not be faking a relationship with you out of guilt and social expectations. If you have to force someone to like you, why tf would you want to be with them? What you're feeling isn't love because it's not mutual, you just want someone who wants something else, but you care more about their body being with your body, than you actually farie about their mind and desires being the opposite of yours and not belonging with you just because it's what you want; that's lust, not love, give it up, it's a phase and you can move on and find someone to have a real relationship with, one that is mutual and neither of you forced yourself to be in the relationship or change to force the other person into it.

16:56 "Never enter the basement."
Everyone: "Imma check out the basement."

Tale of tales is one of my favorite movies. The princess is probably my favorite character. You can only run so far before you realize you have to save yourself. Realizing no one is going to save you, and that you have to make choices that are scary and difficult really hit me, when I first watched it. She was sheltered her whole life so she was paralyzed by fear, until she fully surrendered, used whet the ogre wanted against him, and killed him herself. Even at the end you can tell it's not a simple "oh she's a badass now" moment, she breaks down in tears because what she went through and what she had to do to free herself was not easy.

making the ‘Pixie Dust’ heroin instead of cocaine is a missed opportunity for a super obvious joke

Actually the mermaids were originally dangerous the fairytale came later.

The Hansel and Gretl movie was AMAZING 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend

That first story is straight up Hans Christian Anderson, The Little Mermaid.
Yes, the original story is that bloody and painful, and yep, that's where Disney got the story from.
Peter Pan: Woo boy. They really were serious about the disfigurement there. It makes ... well, it doesn't make him sympathetic exactly, but it's a reminder that he went through an awful lot of pain.
Ugly Stepsister picks up so much real stuff that it hurts, that movie was really hard to watch.

Tale of Tales freaking traumatized me just from the Imma's voice. Especially when she started screaming while being flayed.

That second one is literally what peter pan would be if peter was mentally unstable

I watched Tale of Tales when it came out, along with my dad! I was an early teen back then, and found it a bit disturbing, but still kinda liked it. Thanks for pointing out that the monster at the end of the boys' story was actually the queen! I didn't catch that back then.

Brothers grim would be crying in joy seeing these.❤❤❤

Actually, when you look at the original Grimm Fairytales, yeah these are pretty accurate.

A lot of fairy tales are nightmares, disney warped them stories to be child friendly for the most part.
