there is also classikuriboh canceling all direct attacks for 1 turn by ending the battle phase when a direct attack is declared, same effect as battle fader, just 13 years later

Here's a handtrap you probably haven't heard of: Emissary from the House of Wax
You can summon it from hand when the opponent declares an attack. As an Illusion monster, it can't be destroyed by battle.
At the end of the opponent's battle phase, it negates the effects of all of their monsters currently on the field until their next battle phase, and prevents those monsters from being used as summon material.
This fancy candle man has won me some duels.

waboku confused the heck out of me back then, especially once i learned that if its used when an opponent tries to, for example, attack my gemini elf with their gemini elf, their gemini elf dies

Kuriboh is actually the strongest card in yugioh, because it's the only monster that's immune to power creep

Sometimes i forget the battle phase in yugioh exists. After 20 games of combo and win or get disrupted and lose it's like "oh right, you can win by attacking too"
