Penn State Wrestling Has a SOLID Schedule… But Why No Oklahoma State?!

Locked On Nittany Lions

5,277 views

Penn State wrestling's 2026-27 schedule is officially here, but one major opponent is missing: David Taylor and Oklahoma State.

Zach Seyko breaks down the full Nittany Lions schedule, including three Bryce Jordan Center duals against West Virginia, Michigan and Iowa, road trips to Oklahoma and Ohio State, the Black Knight Invitational, Journeyman Duals and Penn State's toughest stretch of the season.

Plus, why doesn't Cael Sanderson schedule Oklahoma State? Is Penn State's schedule actually too easy, or does the current formula make sense for a program built to peak at the Big Ten and NCAA Championships?

Penn State also enters the season riding an 86-dual winning streak and could finish the year at 102 consecutive victories — second-most in college wrestling history.

What's the dual you most want to see this season?

Seyko trying to diss Cael for not scheduling OSU. Cael's team competes in the toughest wrestling conference in the country. If David Taylor wants to wrestle PSU every year, he should ask his athletic director to beg the BIG for admission.

I haven’t watched yet but, we all know why.

Hey when you’re #1 they have to chase you, you don’t chase them.

The arena is 3 miles from campus

This is a solid schedule?? How fo you even keep a straight face haha

November and December or borderline unwatchable with the exception of Lehigh. Too weak to schedule the talent should put a few extra meats in there, especially with five years no red shirts plenty of backups could use some extra work with higher level dual meets.

why blow your wad and schedule Okie State when, if everything goes to plan, PSU will go up against Okie State in the NCAA Finals when it counts the most? The idea is to grow the sport, and a finals matchup with okie and PSU grapplers would make it "must see" TV. Also, Bloom is PSAC and gets state funding like PSU does... We're literally exchanging hands. PSU needs to schedule Lock Haven more.

🗣️THE SCHEDULE IS FINE/ F DAVID TAYLOR & OKST/ SNAKES BELONG IN GRASS, NOT THE GLASS/

@damienweaver5517 4 days ago

Zach , you know damn well Okie State was not going to be on the schedule , so why the hell are you reporting as if there was any type of chance? Im no podcaster but seriously dude , your trying way too hard to create unneeded drama.

Best team in the country but schedules cupcakes. Not entertaining

You don't reward departees. Screw OK St.

It is a week schedule, granted they are going to roll people anyway, but it's basically the end of the season against Minnesota, home against Iowa and at Ohio State before some weights will even have a test. Lehigh will have a 141 test, Rutgers 133, maybe Michigan has a few guys...buts it is back loaded on the end. And wrestling Bloomsburg over Oklahoma State is not growing the sport that's ridiculous.

You can also look at the last 2 years at the NCAA's Oklahoma State has 5 Individual National Champions to 6 for Penn State. Look at the difference in the winners, the Penn State winners were all chalk guys that Zach could have probably coached to 6 National Champions. The David Taylor model of wrestling the best competition including the National Duals is helping freshman wrestlers and unexpected champions have confidence to excel at the NCCAS.

This is an incredibly weak schedule. PSU wrestles 2nd/3rd level teams until the last few weeks of the season when they get a couple of decent teams to prep them for BIG10 and Nationals. They won't breaak a sweat until February.

@tylermitchell0398 4 days ago

Again, out of all the Big 10 schedules released, PSU yet again, has the weakest schedule of them all 🤦🏾‍♂️!

@TimM-wk1zx 4 days ago

Guys like Zach that push this same weak agenda have nothing else to do it seems….I mean, the football team stinks, so what does someone like Zach do but try to make conjecture. He acts like Cael made the schedule himself, and then wants to complain about the man himself. Clown 🤡 show.
