Since there was no Internet back then, from Asia we didn't have a clue why Warrior disappeared suddenly in 1992. I could never express the joy of seeing him coming back after 4 years in 1996 in a new era dominated by HBK, Bret and The Undertaker. We started dreaming of so many spectacular matches between Warrior and superstars like Bret, HBK, Yokozuna or maybe a classic rematch between Warrior and Taker again! However, for the second time he was gone again from WWE before we had any clue, and that time for good. Initially we thought it's just another story line of WWE like HBK retiring due to injury and all those stuff, but no way, Warrior was really gone! I always felt that he deserved to be on the top and in heavyweight main events as the headliner but both back in 1992 and in 1996, they tried to overshadow him with Bret (champion in 1992) and with HBK (champion in 1996). This absolutely seemed ridiculous as he was never the second guy standing behind apparently weaker wrestlers like Bret/HBK. It didn't just suit the Ultimate Warrior persona, not at all. The Ultimate Warrior was someone who would just pop up as soon as his music would hit, and the crowd would go crazy, he would run to the ring, jerk ropes, beat the hell out of whoever would be in the ring and leave. Yes, that's the authenticity of Warrior. Yes, he had his ego and rigid nature to work with anyone in the roster but that's not limited to Jim only, a lot others had this issue too. To conclude, Vince created something which he failed to carry on.
Warrior and Sting were my favorites as a kid and the 80s/ 90s era was the best. Warrior wasn't the best wrestler by any means but his intensity and energy was unmatched.
He was perfectly designed for the 80's & 90. He seems to me ' The Incredible Hulk ' of WWF. He wasn't the people's person back then as a star, if you've heard Taker stories about him. Gone way too soon.
Loved him as a kid, his energy, charisma and the effort he put into his character and knew how to draw in crows and a brilliant entertainer.
Like us all, Warror wasn't perfect, he had his faults, did and said things that offended many people and was misunderstood but he managed to reconcile with those he had issues with before he passed away.
I admire that he took responsibility for his actions and humble to acknowledge that he was not an easy person to work and get along with.
He changed for the better.
But that was a childish and petty move on WWE to put together and release the Self Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior.
That really upset Warrior, WWE tarnishing his name and having the guys constantly say negative things about him.
Ultimate Warrior 1st time career ending match, 1st to change the color of intercontinental belt, 1st to change color of championship belt, 1st to have win both belts InterContinental & World heavyweight, Warrior & Hogan 1st time WrestleMania 2 Faces fight, 1st wrestler to run in the Ring , & 1st to Shake Ropes! Ultimate Warrior was the 1st to create Alot of things & the most electrifying!⚡ Before Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Stone Cold & Others! Warrior Was A Force to be Reckoned With. & Highly Underrated & Hated By Many! WARRIOR RULES RIP!! 🙏
4:40. Watch the interview with Bad News Brown, where he flat out says that it was him who told Warrior to tell Vince he wanted the exact equal of everything Hogan was getting.
He even says that Warrior was apprehensive about doing it, and asked Bad News several times if he should go through with it. Bad News told him that if it were him, he’d do it, and gave a quote from Chief J Strongbow, where he said “in this business, you can either make friends, or make money”.
He was a phenomenon and imo there has been and will be no bigger wrestling match than that main event of wm6,ultimate warrior was explosive and was bigger than most people think it was
