One of the most motivational things my drill Sgt said to us while we were doing eagle tower was that we’re being PAID to do cool shit, people PAY to do what we do.

RETIRED ARMY FIRST SERGEANT HERE....thanks to the outstanding NCO'S who make the Army great!

Went through in 2008, in August.  I remember shooting the M240 for the first time and it was so full of CLP that it was just spraying and gasing in my face.  I later became the 240 gunner at my unit, it's so much more fun when it's working properly.  The confidence course is the first place that I had an MRE, I got a cheese tortellini, but didn't know that there was a heater in there or how it worked.  Water makes things hot? It blew my tiny mind. It was stressful, but a good time, I'm glad I went through and got my rifles with music blaring and big pallet towers on fire.

Going straight in and out of parade rest is crazy work.

So this is the base Shane wanted to go to?

It's  part of you and I'm fucking 61 years old now it's part of us for life we all volunteered for this AIRBORNE

Got my Blue Cord and Disc's in Khakis  September 28 1978 Welcome to the Army Family and the Blue Cord Brotherhood

I'm 38 about to join. I'm excited for the first time in a long time.

I think this training makes more sense then what I went through.  It's more combat related than just discipline.
and its easier to find out who the good potential leaders are.  When I was in basic recruits weren't allowed to show leadership
We  were constantly told not to think but to just obey, then confusing us by punishing us for not showing initiative.

Thank you for this! I was in the 198th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam out of Chu Lai,
combat medic
Whole different basic these days, I admire these troops, God Bless them All!

And♥️this is the beginning for our HEROES♥️

Here after I saw the enlistment age got bumped.  Turned 39 this year considering speaking to a recruiter.

Echo 2/58 July 1996.  Earning the blue cord is a special thing.
