RE: the juicy eggs story. My parents told me the tunnel-bridge to board planes was called "the big worm" and one time, as a 25 year-old taking a flight by myself, I asked the gate agent if we would be boarding with the bus or the big worm and he literally called over another gate agent to laugh at me together.

seeing the morris dancing one made me cackle because i AM a morris dancer 😭 i damn well hope it's not illegal lmao

The real reason there will be no Matt Rose Monday next week is because he tried to count all the stones in Stonehenge

One time my mother told me dandelion fluff flying through the air was an explosion in a teddy bear factory

My mom told me that Alan Rickman was gay and I believed it and even told kids in school that Professor Snape's actor was actually gay. I believed this until the day he died and the news came on and said he was survived by his wife and kids. I was so confused and asked my mom "why did you tell me Alan Rickman was gay?" and she said "He seemed shy so I thought he was gay".

My parents told me that my dead hamster would be reincarnated every time I got a new hamster so I’ve had 3 hamsters in the past named “General Eatsalot”

on long car trips, my parents would tell me and my siblings that they knew a shortcut, but they could only take it if we went to sleep. pretty genius, honestly.

I remember being maybe 5 or 6, and asking my dad about the two trophies in our living room. He said "oh those are volleyball trophies". I never questioned it because he did play volleyball (noncompetitively at a local gym) before I was born, and the statues were each of a person with wings holding up a sphere made of circles of metal. So, wings for jumping and a sphere which could arguably be called a ball, it made perfect sense to me.

Years later I was 16, and doing the 'two truths and a lie' icebreaker with one of my cousins and some other people at a sleep-away camp. One of my cousin's options was "One of my relatives has won an emmy", and I went "wait, which one?", and she just looked at me, utterly baffled, and went "... your dad."

Turns out when my dad worked for NBC during the 1992 Spain Summer Olympics, some of the code he was responsible for won him and his team an emmy within the graphics department. All I could say in that moment was "HE TOLD ME THEY WERE VOLLEYBALL TROPHIES".

Rest your voice man, you have to use it to tell your kid lies

My mom once told me if i farted with my bedroom door shut, i'd "die from sulfur poisoning"

As a broccoli elf, I indeed am the worst

we had a budgie named Sky when I was a small child. he disappeared one day. when we asked what happened, she thought it would be a nicer lie to say "he flew away, because you traumatized him by being loud and handling him improperly." my family often guilt tripped me for breaking things when I was really young and didn't know better, so I took this as fact, blaming myself for years and holding so much guilt. when I mentioned this story again to her as a teenager, she revealed to me that he just died. 😐 thank you mum

My mother calls me a worm and tells me stories of our worm heritage. It’s not quite a lie as much as it is a glimpse into her whimsical and intriguing mind.

im recovering from a anesthesia and on percocet i thirnk tjis is the right way to watch matt rows

Very common lie where I'm from is telling kids that if you drink coffee you'll grow a tail. I was a fairly cautious and reasonable child so I accepted the 'it's not good for you' answer but the lie made me want to drink it because I wanted a tail

back when we were a very christian family my mom told me that 🖕 meant “i hate god” and i believed it up until i started seeing people associating it with swears and realized that they probably didn’t actually hate god, maybe

My much older sister told me that the sky going dark (due to passing clouds) were dragons flying by, that would eat me when I go outside. She also told me not to look, or else the dragons would know where I am and get me.
She also told me that she could speak this super rare dying language. She taught me a couple words in it. Later in school I learned that it was english.

I never got the whole "pet got sent to a farm" thing.
If your kid's pet dies, the kid has every right to grieve the loss of the pet.
My parents never hid a pet's death from me, they let me go through the natural process of grief and as an adult now I appreciate that a lot!

Like any child I asked my parents where babies came from. They told me it was "grown-up magic" and that if I disturbed them then they couldn't create a baby. So naturally 7 year old me thought they were casting some kind of spells in there like a mage 💀💀
