The world is where humans live their lives, seek sustenance, build families and strive to achieve various ideals. However, the world is not the final destination. A Muslim should be able to utilize the world without making it the greatest love in the heart. In this study, we remind you how to place the world as a means to the hereafter, so that wealth, career and position are in your hands to be utilized, while the hereafter remains the goal of the heart.

1. The World is Just a Temporary Stopover
Allah Ta'ala says:

And the

"And the life of this world is but a deceitful pleasure." (QS. Ali 'Imran: 185)

The world is not an eternal abode. Whatever is owned in the end will be abandoned, while people will be accountable for their deeds before God.

2. The World in the Hands, the Hereafter in the Heart
Having wealth, a job, position and a comfortable life is not something reprehensible as long as it is all used for good. What needs to be taken care of is not to let the world dominate the heart and make someone forget God and the afterlife.

God said:

وَابْتَغِ فِيمَا عتَاكَ اللَّهُ الدَّارَ الْاخِرَةَ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا

"And look for what Allah has bestowed upon you (reward) in the Hereafter, but do not forget your part in this world." (QS. Al-Qasas: 77)

3. Don't Make The World Your Greatest Ambition
The Prophet said:

مَنْ كَانَتِ الْاخِرَةُ هَمَّهُ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ غِنَاهُ فِي قَلْبِهِ

"Whoever makes the hereafter his goal, God will make sufficiency in his heart." (HR. Ibnu Majah)

When the world becomes the center of ambition, one can continue to feel lacking. On the other hand, orientation to the hereafter fosters contentment and tranquility.

4. Success in the world should be the path of goodness
Being a professional, a doctor, an entrepreneur, or having a high career is not a problem as long as it is all directed to seek God's pleasure and provide benefits. The world can be in your hands, but don't let it control your heart.

5. Make the Hereafter a Priority
Allah Ta'ala says:

وَالْاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ

"However, the afterlife is better and more permanent." (QS. Al-A'la: 17)

Conclusion: A Muslim should not leave this world to pursue the afterlife. Own the world, use wealth and ability for good, but don't let the love of the world take the place that should be filled with the love of God and longing for the afterlife.
