I didn’t meet my half brother until we were 18 years old. I always knew he existed, but he never knew I existed we’re 13 days apart and we truly from the moment we met got on as if we were twins separated at birth.

The two guests I found most interesting were the two who had refused to take DNA tests and the reasoning for it. As an adopted person, I wish everyone would take a test so it wouldn't be so so difficult to find people that you belong to

The older man's over-sharing three quarters of the way through this video made everyone laugh, but really brings home the point that for some of the "fathers" these people spend their lives looking for were merely involved for literally a minute or two, and then moved on to the next woman and next dalliance without even a thought for the consequences. So sad.

So all these donor concieved adults are now all living in Australia the chances of them getting together is a terrible tragedy waiting to happen. If they don't know about each other and get together / marry .the mind boggles .

Yes everyone has a right to know their true heritage but what no one talks about is the exhauberant amount of kids being born of a single donar. The elephant in the room is that we now live in an age where ALL couples wanting to have children must have a mandatory DNA test to ensure that each potential parent is NOT related to each other!

Undoubtedly, you should have the right to know who your family is and where you come from! I did not hear one good argument against during this video. The raw pain you could see in the people searching far outweighs the fear from the people who don't want their secrets outed.

Adoptive parent in Japan here. This is a tricky issue here. Adopted/foster children are not informed of their parentage until they turn 18. When my son turned 18, we got the information from the city hall where he was born and went from the city hall straight to his birth mother's place. It was likely a shock for her because we didn't ask for permission (we live in different part of the country) and my son introduced himself to her and his grandfather. The grandfather was over the moon happy, but the mother was very quiet. I think she had believed/hoped she would never see him again, but my son needed to know and since the system in Japan is built for the convenience of the birth parents and not their children, I didn't mind doing what we did.

As someone adopted ny my own paternal grandparents and never knew my birth mother, yes, I believe you should have access to your birth family and history

Every other couple in Faroe Islands are married to relatives 😅They have always considered cousins marriages being wrong though

As a biracial child adopted from Korea to the US after the war, I thank my half sister on my father’s side all the time for taking the test!

When I was matched to her It filled a hole in my heart that I had for 63 years!

To know my father’s (veteran of the Korean War)
side and be able to finally look into the faces of family is an incredibly beautiful gift!

I was also matched on my Korean side to a niece here in the states. She is beautiful and smart!

DNA science has given me my family on both sides! I couldn’t be more amazed and grateful.

It seems as though the whole adoption IVF process is adults centred. No one in the legal team seems to have realised that babies don't remain babies, and at some point need to know about, if not meet their bio parents. I'm glad kids are legally able to get the information now, but it makes me wonder what else we are doing wrong that our kids will have to pay for.
