I got a few minutes into this video before I stopped and tried the game out for myself. I... got a critical failure on my first day. Had Penelope realize she's the protagonist and now she's out to get me. On DAY ONE 😭 😭 It was such a blast though and I'm definitely gonna keep going, I've read a thousand of these otome isekai stories and now I can create my own! Thank you (and my yt algorithm lmao) for introducing me to a new hobby!!

I am very into the villainess manhwa trope (it's also huge in Korean webtoons btw)! But this is my first time to encounter solo journal rpg and it seems very interesting

It should be noted, that among the paid for journaling games, they sometimes do offer free copies for people who are unable to pay, so it is worth keeping an eye out for them (notably separate from the pay what you want games). Thousand Year Old Vampire, and Apothecaria are two examples I've come across.

Otome games are a romance genre for women, where the player character is female, and the love interest primarily male (there's also the amare genre for those looking for more mixed love interests). This trope isn't actually present that much in otome games, though there are some examples, it's mostly a thing in other isekai media.

Ok. Now I am curious. I just downloaded my first solo RPG “The Wandering Tea Garden.” I will let you know how I do. Thanks for walking us through one of your play days.

Great video, it's so nice to see how excited you got for the genre as you learned about it. I was hearing weird gibberish whenever things were quiet though, but I'm going to assume that has something to do with the auto dubbing youtube does. Weird that it's affecting the original audio.

Your video was in my feed, I clicked on it, stopped after 3 minutes, downloaded the game, set the characters up and played through the first day. Now I am back 😂 It is my very first RPG journaling game, so I am a bit unsure how to continue playing, but I already want to thank you, because it has been a lot of fun so far! I‘ll have to continue your video now so that I understand the gameplay a bit better.

This is a great video that really showcases the solo RPG. I enjoyed playing the game as well. Named my villainess Prestina Vault, she was a mage and stepsister to Penelope. LIs were Duke Gerberaton (former betrothed who breaks it off to marry Penelope), Devon Ottershire (gentleman assassin for the Prince) and Cronut Sapphire (rival mage who hated me but loved bread rolls). I had to use the optional time travel one time as a love interest killed me. The story got so wild, which lines up with the genre. The creator of the game was the princess and was annoyed with my villainess for deviating from the story and tried to get me killed instead of Penelope. Found a surprise little brother who was going to be made the actual heir instead of my villainess. I didn't really do much with Penelope, it was all the love interests. I really enjoyed the rivalry between characters. Oh and one of the LI had also been reincarnated into the game but it happened 5 years prior for them. Ended up with that one as they understood the character's predicament with the new heir, being reincarnated and having secrets. He didn't know he was the one who had killed me earlier but we came to an agreement. I ended it with the thought that the story turns into one of those fake marriages that end up becoming real.

Arrived for the RPG and writing gear, stayed for barn swallows 😊 never tried a solo RPG but this seems right up my alley!

Aaaah, you have inspired me to do this!! I have been on my villainess/reincarnation kick recently, so this is perfect. Making a male villain for mine, because why not :)
Update: My Vincent has died on day 6. Embarrassing, I know... I am bringing him back with time travel

Sounds like a cute game! I love how you have the journaling set up in a Cousin!

I'm so glad I saw this video! I'm a Isekai Historical/Fantasy Junkie. Instantly downloaded this and having so much fun with my character. I have made some additional "Roll Charts" to help creative fatigue. Makes it easier to really focus on a set story even though a lot of unfortunate rolls are happening to my character.😅

I have downloaded the game, and already made a whole bunch of lore before even starting to play, can't wait to try it!

Penelope's three love interests are Ezekiah, a flirty pirate with a heart of gold, secretly the son of a noble, but he fled this life that he hates; Clementine, a kind hearted, cheerful mage who is trying to become the new royal court mage and is betrothed to her; and Mordred, a noble who seems to dislike her but has accomplished many great things so is very trusted and admired, and also he's actually a yandere.
The villainess is Misty Seprentown, heiress of a noble family who was childhood friends with Penelope, before she left to study at the Academy of Magic. She wants to become the new royal court mage, making her Clementine's direct rival. She and Mordred are always trying to manipulate each other, though Mordred finds her attemps always ridiculous and pathetic. She is also betrothed since childhood to Ezekiah, but they hate each other as Misty is all that Ezekiah hates in nobility, and Misty finds Ezekiah too shameful to even dare letting people know they are supposed to marry one day.

It was already so fun to come up with this lore from the set ups I've rolled, I can't wait to actually play! (and also get to watch this video, I saw the title and immediately jumped to download the game)

Wow - thank you so much. I didn't even know this existed until I clicked on your video at random. Now I'm still on day 1 (having already written 4 pages), got Koriko on order & many fun ones lined up. Only disappointing thing is the lack of romance based ones out there!

I've never heard of Solo RPGS but I love reincarnation and villaness isekai stories! This is a wonderful intersection, thank you for making a video explaining all of this because I have a new hobby :

I love how you went on a journey to discover games and discovered some fun anime ❤ The dark history is absolutely delightful to me and I bet as a writer it would be even more so for you😂

@onomatopoesie 1 month ago

Otome (乙女) is Japanese and means "girl", so basically otome games are games made for girls/women. 😊 Most of the time it's romance paired with another genre like action, mystery, or it has historical themes. ("Touken Ranbu" would be a great example for the historical ones, it was HUGE back then. 😊)
