1 Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
2 Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O thou who changest not, abide with me.
3 I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.
4 I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.
5 Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me. In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
A fitting song for the funeral of a monarch. RIP HM King Harald of Norway
And RIP Princess Astrid of Norway, the late King's older sister, whose passing was just announced đđ
Keep crying every time I play this song, ever since Ive heard this song at the funeral. What a beauuuuutiful hymn â¤â¤đđ˝â¤ And sung so perfectly-- thank you Hillari and Choir. đđ˝â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
You would have to be a pretty hard person not to shed tears over this performance. The beautiful young lady sitting next to her mom and her brother, is Ingrid Alexandra, Crown Princess of Norway. She will in the future be the first reigning Queen of Norway in more than 600 years.
The new King's eyes were wet and the man who was looking up at the ceiling is the President of the Storting - Norway's Parliament - who was born in Iran. That somebody had the presence of mind to invite this choir to perform this hymn was simply brilliant. It so dmonstrates Norways divese population and remind me of King Harald's famous speech a few years ago describing Norway's popularion. As a first generation American with a Norwegian immigrant father, now, with what is happening in the USA, makes me wish that Norway would take me back!
