What actually happens when you stop using permanent hair color and start gray blending instead?

In this video, I’m sharing real before & after transformations from five women who made the switch to demi-permanent color — including my own!

And as you’ll see, gray blending can look VERY different from one woman to the next. Your natural level, percentage and pattern of gray, remaining natural pigment, previous color, and the type of demi-permanent color you choose can all affect your final result.

That’s also why copying someone else’s formula doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get the same result. The goal is to find the approach that works with your hair and the result you want.

I am so happy this popped into my feed. I love how you have and show examples of gray blending that aren’t gray or blond. I have been searching for this for a year.

Very sick of permanent color and roots that need to be retouched after 4 weeks.

Congratulations on your channel.🎉🎉 I applaud you for educating women on the demi permanent possibility. I have been transitioning from permanent color growing out the gray like you to see the pattern. 80% especially in the front. I have move from Goldwell TopChic permanent to now Goldwell Colorance. It's a process but worth it. I love Shinefinity as an allover deposited gloss. Looking forward to your future videos and success ❤

I’m 67, and I use a demi color on my hair. It works great! My natural hair is dark brown, and I use medium brown.

I made a big mistake the last few times I colored my hair using permanent color with a 10vol because I was told that it would work as a demi.

So now, I had to go for a hunt to get the color I wanted in Demi, because virtually no one has a 7rg in Demi! I literally could only find it through ordering it through Walmart! I did 7rg on my roots and then mixed half bottle of 7rg with 8g for the rest of my long hair.

I did do an all over bleach before I started with true Demi. At this point I am growing out the roots, using Demi, and I will keep doing Demi I just don’t want the harsh line.

I've been using Elumen hair color to tone my gray hair for years. I use a mix of roughly 90% of the shade nn@9 and 10% of the shade gy@9 to achieve an ash blonde. Since I started using it, my hair is stronger and it looks like I have highlights. I completely recommend this method for toning grays because it doesn't contain any oxidants and it doesn't alter your natural base color at all. Plus, it really cares for the hair, leaving it looking very healthy and shiny.

I’ve been using Wella Color Charm Demi in 7A for about 8 months. Prior to this I had been using permanent color at the salon on my naturally brown hair for over 30 years! Also highlights over the years. At 58 I’m still not ready to go grey 😂, even though I must be 80% grey/white by now. The problem is I love the results for the first week or so, but it fades so fast 😢

The shades EQ ash formulas were too red for me. Good if you want to camouflage a high grey percentage to look more brown, but I actually want to tone down my brown to look more ash so it did not work for me.

I get the Demi to cover grays and I have red hair. It costs $40 at a salon twice a year. It works awesome and in the summer I get natural highlights from the sun which makes it last even longer.

I have Light to medium brown hair with 80% grey roots and tried the demi in light brown and it turned my hair very dark brown

I did lighter, then red, now it washes out and is not harsh with my natural lightbrown ash...no color needed...just go lighter once...and wait

Such great content! Your hair color looks beautiful - so natural! Your approach is just what I have been looking for. I am about 50% gray, and my hair dresser has been putting foils in my hair to turn it dark blonde. She will alternate foils and leave some of my medium brown hair in between the foils. It has an overall blonde look with hints of my dark hair showing through. The grow out is easy. I can go 3 or 4 months without a touch up, but I feel washed out. It doesn't match with my skin color. I feel washed out. I'd love to get back to a light/medium brown color and purchase your blue print, but I don't see any examples taking someone with full highlights to a demi brown blend. Would your plan work for me? Do I need to first add color back to my hair for your method to work?

To be fair to the hairdressers calling you a liar, i don't think you mentioned the baby lights in the first video so techncially its not just a demi but you can definitely get the same results with just a demi. Hair dressers don't like that option because it's cheaper.

Have you used wella colortouch? It is a demi-permanent hair color and is combined with 4% 12 vol developer. You can get it in colorproof stores which sells to professional colorists. Also, used very much in Latin America, it is supppsed to be the professional line of Wella.

Off topic. For permanent color on 100% gray, what toner would give yiu less warmth? I struggle with that. Use 5 and 6n mix. Thank you. Considering demi
