I remember when they filmed this on East 6th street. They didn't have to change much

It still impresses me they got permission to film the Ellis Island scenes at Ellis Island.

The ship that brought Vito to America was named the Moshula...It is the same ship that Rocky runs past in the Rocky I movie....My grandfather Pasquale Fraietta came over on that ship in 1909

Lee Strasberg (Hyman Roth) was Al Pacino's acting coach.

"Where did the cake go?" We can count on Jax to ask the important questions.
The fact that Michael reached an old age reminds me when someone dismisses a mature warrior or a fighter, always someone reminds the saying "Be afraid of the old warrior. He got old in a business where everyone dies young for a reason".

These reaction mashups aren't very good. They skip over some important lines.

44:48 Kay’s speech is brutal because it’s the first moment she stops protecting Michael’s illusions and tells him exactly what his world has turned her into. She isn’t confessing to hurt him — she’s finally naming the truth he’s spent years burying under loyalty, tradition, and violence. She didn’t “lose” a child; she made a choice to stop the cycle he keeps pretending he’s not responsible for. And when she says their marriage is just as dead as the son she refused to bring into his empire, she’s not being cruel — she’s being honest. Michael expects devotion while offering nothing but fear, secrecy, and blood. Kay’s decision wasn’t evil; it was the only act of freedom left to her in a life he controlled. His slap doesn’t refute her — it proves her right.

IN SICILY, AS IN THIS COUNTRY, THERE ARE SO MANY LOCAL DIALECTS--------MY FATHER WAS FROM SYRACUSE , IN THE SOUTH, & THAT DIALECT IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE IN MESSINA WHERE MY MOTHER WAS BORN. -------THIS WAS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR DE NIRO, SO HE LEANRED A MIDDLE GROUND OF PALERMO SICILIAN, & THAT'S WHAT HE , & THE OTHER ACTORS LEARNED FOR THIS FILM. IT TOOK THEM SEVERAL MONTHS FOR THEM TO GET IT RIGHT. DE NIRO'S FATHER WAS ITALIAN , SO ROBERT HAD HEARD THSAT LANGUAGE, AS DIFFERENT AS IT IS FROM SICILIAN. -------- SICILIAN HAS A GRTEAT DEAL OF BOTH GREEK & ARABIC INFLUENCE . ------------MJL, 80 Y/O
