You took your vast knowledge and created a great hobby.  Brilliant.

I had the pleasure of walking into a breaker's yard when working in the UK in 1984.
"I don't suppose you would have an overdrive gearbox for an MGB Mk I ?" I said.
"Sure", he replied. "There's two sitting on the floor over there" he said. "Help yourself to one."
Things were a little less happy when I drained the oil prior to shipping it home, and a whole lot of metal filings drained out in the oil.
But a gearbox and overdrive rebuild prior to fitting it, (and one more since after about another 140,000 miles), and the wrecker's yard gearbox and overdrive is still providing excellent service in my now 250,000 mile MGB.

I loved my BGT, '68 white, chrome bumper, wire wheels. Sadly it was written off by some old bumpkin driving around, blind drunk at 10.30 on a Sunday morning. Perhaps in the future I might be able to afford another. Meanwhile I have a small engineering company making parts for, repairing and restoring vintage motorcycles.

I really do think that a cat asleep on a soft top, adds a certain "je ne sais quoi" to the brand!

Hi from NZ!  I drooled on seeing that breakers yard - no such thing for MG's over here.  Fortunately, there are some local companies which supply new parts and supply from the UK is pretty reasonable too.  Keep 'em coming and best wishes - Geoff

Very interesting, and well presented.
