The check valve isn't actually sold by LR or by made by aftermarket parts manufacturers, that black plastic part is missing the "valve" component and is completely useless as a result... The check valve is an orange rubber 'reed' or 'birds beak' valve which fits onto the barbed portion of the black plastic part. You can however find sellers on eBay and the like which sell the complete check valve unit.

This video is a life safer! Been struggling around my fuel system on my Disco II TD5 for weeks changing the pump several times, replacing the filter, resealing the fuel pressure regulator, checking all fuel lines. But the foul pice is this damn valve! 30 bucks invested and the car runs like on first day! So grateful for this hint!

If you fill the filter with fuel before fitting it there is less air to bleed out of the system.

My TD5 has become very slow to start so I’m guessing as a first port of call that the fuel is syphoning back - going to replace these valves and filter and go from there. Useful video!

Is this the same as the Discovery 2 TD5? Also is the 10p and 15p the same? I’m having an issue with my discovery and thinking this may sort it, I have ordered a 1 way valve for one of the pipes but now brass fitting, I’ve been told the 10p is different

Hi, first thing thanks for your lr video. I have a defender td5 2001, it crank but not start at all. Do you think that a faulty return valve can stop the engine to run? Thanks

Then non return valve should be fitted to the line delivering unspent and cooled fuel from the injectors to the filter housing. Its the fwd inner pipe, not the rear inner pipes. It stops the high ptessure injector line draing back to the housing, the rubber ducksbeak valve is sucked shut, so to speak.

Are the brass valves all the same but the fittings that go in different? i have one leaking.
