Alex Gonzalez was thankful that Steve Bartman happened

The Cubs even gave Bartman a 2016 WS ring. Now that was cool.

Aside from Alex Gonzalez, Dusty Baker deserves most of the blame for this loss. Kept Prior out there when he was gassed, did nothing to calm his guys down after the bartman fiasco, and was all too happy to throw that fan under the bus instead of acknowleding he and his team choked. Terrible leadership.

All the blame went to Steve Bartman, yet Alex Gonzalez bobbled an easy double play to end the 8th inning.

Bitter sweet to see old Wrigley Field. No giant video baords. Pitchers warming up on the sides. The brick wall behind the plate being taller.

Literally could have been a Cubs vs Yankees World Series, had Chicago not choked up 8 runs in that 8th inning

Also, a young Miguel Cabrera before he became the Detroit Tigers legend

Poor guy didn't even get to keep the goddamn ball 😭

Alex Gonzalez one of the best defensive SS in tie game at the time, boots a Taylor made routine double play. Never understood why Bartman got all the hate. Another fan even reached as well.

Prior should never pitched the 8th inning. He was at 115 pitches when Bartman happened

this game is so famous or infamous; it was even broadcast in an episode of ESPN's five reasons you can't blame

Also, the botched double play ball by Gonzalez came into play too.

Brutal what they put this kid through. Fans suck sometimes.

Chicagoan here. Was in a bar watching this with friends. After the bottom of the 7th my friends says,”I can’t believe the Cubs are going to the World Series.” 🤦‍♂️

There is legit no reason for this to be called the Steve Bartman Game lol

Why am I nervous just watching this 😂

You know what’s eerie, at 1:44:13, you can see Bartman waving at the camera at the top of the screen one play before that infamous foul ball finds him. It’s like he inadvertently warned us

To blame him is crazy they should of taken the starter out after the 7th and trusted the BP

I never blame steve bartman for the cubs lost

As a Marlins fan, This game will always hold a special place in my heart, although I do feel bad for Bartman, all he wanted was a souvenir to take home. Poor Bartman.
