Did she really say, George Harrison is a one-hit wonder lol. I mean, apart from being part of that small group The Beatles, he had a successful solo career.

"I thought they were all American" - they even called themselves Foreigner to help you out 🤣

Not knowing who Pink Floyd are, is almost a crime :D
80's music fans would definitely know what SAW means :D
Also a lot of (italo-) dance music (obvious) is missing

From a Portuguese point of view, Brit songs and singers are the best not only in the 80s ❤

George Harrison a one hit wonder? 😮 BOLD statement for a former Beatle😂

Lisa, many people know Queen songs without realizing that it's Queen, because they did such different songs. By the way, all 4 band members are also in the Hall of Fame of singer songwriters, not even the Beatles made it. Greg, Dire Straits "Brothers of Arms" is one of the greatest anti war anthems of all time and is played at many veterans funerals. Very emotional: the lyrics, Mark's voice and his guitar, also the music video.

P.S.: yes, Phil Collins is a drummer, he used to be in a band called Genesis (Peter Gabriel was their singer on their early records, and then left in the '70s).

Now I'm feeling like an old bastard - in the 80's we grew up with some of the greatest & innovate music

It’s not thousands it’s millions…

17:40 yes, Phil Collins is a drummer. The clip shown was actually taken from a Cadbury's chocolate advert.

you need to watch queen at live aid.. That will convert anyone, one of the best live performances full stop

True fact, foreigner were two Brits and two yanks, they were "foreigners" in each of the countries...... hence the name 👍🏻
As for AC/DC, Brian is English, and Malcolm and Angus were born in Scotland, although the band was formed in Australia. They were uk based during the 80's, for quite a while.

A lovely trip in my teenage years here in the UK… And along with another probably 20 million people I am saying "you have to react to the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl fairytale of New York". There is no other Christmas song.

The British ruled the music industry since the 50s and even before during the British Invasion. Check out the British bands The Animals - House of the Rising Sun

Someone has probably said this but, you have to watch the Cadbury advert with the gorilla playing the drums in full,. It is a classic ad and song together, perfect.

13:37 - No.47 Spandau Ballet. As I write this comment, Martin Kemp of the band is appearing in "the jungle", correctly titled reality show "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here". His son and daughter, Roman (radio DJ) and Harley-Moon are in BBC's Race Across the World.

The sound of my late teens and early twenties! Although I'm a classical musician I have a huge love of all 'good' music of whatever genre.

In regards to "Joy Division" who did become "New Order" there is a film (maybe on BritBox) called "24 hr Party People" which is a fantastic film about Manchester in 80's & 90's, the creation of the famous Hacienda and bands like "The Happy Mondays", and others that influenced many more, this all possible from a local TV reporter. (Manc = Manchester)

"24 Hour Party People is pure Manc mayhem. From Ian Curtis’s haunting genius to New Order’s synth revolution, and the Happy Mondays turning chaos into culture — it’s all here. The Hacienda wasn’t just a nightclub, it was a movement. Tony Wilson’s madness made magic. Long live Madchester."

Diddy and Faith Evans "I'll Be Missing You" added millions to Sting's fortune, as they didn't bother to seek permission to use his "Every Breath You Take" and he sued and received all the royalties. I've never understood why Evans was lauded by some for her singing or rather screeching. It was like nails down a blackboard.
