The statement for why you like Maths gets cliched - the admissions already knows what Maths is about! Just applying for Maths shows you're passionate about Maths (if you're not passionate about Maths, then why are you applying for Maths?)! Unfortunately, schools (and also those private 'Oxbridge' coaches) still believe that universities are looking for a cliched statement on that you want to study maths based on what maths is about (or what 'you think' maths is about). (Not just Oxbridge, met someone who studied Maths in Imperial College London whose wrote that they just like Maths as their reason to why study math in their personal statement)
