I think one of the main problems with living abroad, in any country, is idealization. Every place has its ups and downs. Anyone moving abroad just needs to be open-minded, humble, and enjoy the experience for what it is. Not everyone has the same luck, chances, or support system. Life doesn’t end if something goes wrong.

I lived in Shanghai,  China for 9 years. I'm from Gugulethu, Cape town. It was such a learning curve I even survived covid lockdown in Shanghai. I also worked as English teacher and it was a lot of good times. I arrived there in 2017. You got paid according to your passport and your skin color. ✨️ In the end it got difficult to find a job as many kindergarten closed down and it became more competitive.

when i was in uni, i did a semester abroad in hungary and fell in love with solo traveling/traveling and being somewhere where i could not really understand the language. i feel that not understanding what people said made me more eager to learn the local language and use it during my day-to-day life. now, i visited seoul for 1 week and felt that it wasn't enough time. i've been in corporate america career for 5yrs and was looking to becoming an english teacher abroad -- i enjoy training people and have patience so i was thinking maybe i'd enjoy teaching? but based on your advice + what other creators have said, i feel that i might just do the remote work route and stay for 2-3 months in seoul? but i would like to live abroad permanently in the near-future 😅
