I’m a conservative who is surrounded by Woke ideologues at work. Even my supervisor and her supervisor are both Woke. It’s exhausting.

Reminds me of the movie Idiocracy! Truly the inmates have taken over the asylum!

Being anti-woke should not be considered "right wing" but those are the terms the left chose.

Just capitulate and you can get on with your life.... That hits hard.

Another novel which satirises wokeness is 'The End of the World is Flat' by Simon Edge. Very comical!

I read this book when it came out and really enjoyed it.  I do like the direct writing style.  I loved the absurdity of the premise, that now maybe doesn't seem so ridiculous as I consider current ideologies.

As an autistic person I don’t want to be called “differently able”. I don’t have the nonverbal instincts to act without social theories. Just like someone who needs a cane to walk, I need knowledge to socialize. I am not differently able, I have limitations. Acknowledging those limits is not bullying, it helps me to see where I need to improve my own life. When problems are denied, resentment will build.

I will add, when you pause to see where someone else is with their viewpoints, only someone who is on the right does that. My girlfriend and I notice that in Scotland where we live that people on the far left will boast about their ideas and their group with this moral high ground and confidence and they will assume they are in a room full of lefties, they are not, we have noticed that as the evening goes on at social gatherings you find more and more people are actually right wing in their principles, but they signal that they are on the left. Its very interesting to see that most people can not be honest and admit who they are.

Add Harrison Bergeron to the list

It's not a new idea. Kurt Vonnegut wrote about the same thing in his 1961 short story, "Harrison Bergeron."

Geek Love, a 1989 novel by Katherine Dunn, provides a prescient foundation for understanding trans ideology with the Arturians .  Also, John Irving's 1978 novel The World According to Garp gave us the Ellen Jamesians.  These two fictional cults seem to have combined to become our dystopian present.

If 35 years ago anyone had written about where we are now, it would've read as equally crazy and improbable.

Sounds like I should read it. This is what people are saying to me now: "just say they/them, what's the problem? It'll make your life easier." But I don't want to. I believe it is harmful. It is not "respectful" to pretend to believe someone's delusion.

It's kind of important that the character is a liberal because if they were a conservative, most of the stuff would already be outright objectionable. The fact that she's already a liberal and it's going that much further past the Overton window is the point. It's like JK Rowling who is otherwise pretty far left leaning speaking out and finally putting your foot down about trans people. All she's doing is stating facts. But they paint her as some kind of bigot, slander her, but still read her books and watch her shows.

I am reading it now. It is next to my pillow as I type. Thanks to your suggestion. 🙂

for me, it's an internal debate like "do i ignore the trolls in the comments section, or do i fight back?"  Kinda like you said, "capitulate and move on with your life". when is it worth fighting and when do you ignore the idiots to preserve your own peace.  It's a tough one but clearly you will be forced to stand your ground eventually.

Not reading modern stuff is exactly why I wasn't aware of it. I don't think I have anything published after 2010 on my Kindle anymore. But I will check this out.

your courage is appreciated.

Omg I subscribed immediately. Never have I ever found a community that can help me navigate my frustration with the champaign liberalism in the Western world. Not only you are great, but the comments are very thoughtful as well.

This is reminding me of Blind Faith - Ben Elton

The main issue I see with more people that are left wing / progressive is that they derive their viewpoints from trying to have the moral high ground that they never actually try to understand why a person has different viewpoints because they view anyone disagreeing with them as "evil" and don't look further. It's that kind of viewpoint that results in them saying they're "pro-kindness and pro-love" only to be done with threats and violence when they encounter someone they labeled as "evil" because that person is evil, so bad things happening to them is justified.
