My dad had all his records, and played his music. Dad bought a 1955 Martin D-28 that he gave to me on my 16th birthday in 1971. Unfortunately, the guitar didn't make the journey with me. It was smashed by Eastern Airlines in a baggage compartment. Even though I was 19 years old, and in the Navy then, I cried like a baby. I was sick. Anyway, dad and me, and then my brother would play his music at get-togethers. Dad eventually bought a D-35, a D-35-12 string, and then the ultimate D-45 that's still in the family.
Way down in little old New Zealand back in the 50's, my father played Hank Snow records all the time. I grew up loving his music. I'm 73 now and nothing has changed.....Rest in Peace Hank.
Absolutely the greatest the one I listen to most of my life and I still listen to him every week just because of the records and tapes that I still have I’m 87 years old Jerry Mcdonogh
I grew up watching my parents two step to my mother’s favorite song, A Fool Such as I. Often my dad would take his Gibson guitar and sing the song to her with his deep voice. Her eyes would sparkle with damp tears. They danced and sang to each other for sixty-four earth years. So . . . to mom and dad: “Pardon me if I’m sentimental when we say goodbye . . .”
