I really appreciate that you draw everything for your videos, including the backgrounds. It really puts you a step above other channels.

A brutal reminder that for most of history, your fate was decided the moment you were born.

By far the happiest ending of these. No murder, rape, mutilation.  Just physical abuse and sadness.

“You learn that proximity to power does not translate into protection when that power moves on.”
There are so many people who need to learn this.

this still essentially happens today. the lower class will always be punished full force, while if a higher class commits a crime it's often waived off or they're given a lesser sentence due to connections and power

what an absolutely stupid system

But if the prince became king, the whipping boy was often materially rewarded, sometimes rising high in court hierarchy.

Meanwhile St Nektarios of Aegina: Punishes himself by fasting when his Pupils misbehaved

Wicked kings punished innocent kids for nothing, that Holy and humble Bishop punished himself to set a loving example, he also secretly cleaned all the restrooms late into the and see hours (on top of his many daytime duties running the school) to help the custodian who had gotten seriously ill so he wouldn't lose his job.

Whats even sadder is that in a regular home this happens too.
(I was a scapegoat in mine so it happened to me often enough)

Punishing someone else for what the other party lacks. Smdh

I think this was quite an easy job by medieval standards. Living in a castle, being well-fed, clothed, getting to know the most powerful people of the country and being paid fairly well were quite stellar fringe benefits, even if being a human punching back does not sound very honorable

I never understood this. They wouldn't care if someone else got hurt

If the prince is a psycho or just apathetic towards you this will be hell. If he is somewhat decent and cares about you, then you might end up getting less beat up than most kids working at farms, as servants or as apprentices. It is really a toss up ranging between this as pure torture or a favorable position in its time. Also the people who can even punish your royal master by proxy are limited. The scullery maid for example can have her ass kicked if she stepped out of line with literary everyone at the court. The prince literary only answers to his tutor and inner royal family.

Sooo a professional sacrificial lamb

Very tragic part of history.

It is true that in a number of European royal houses, princes grew up with chosen companions. These boys were companions, advisors, and confidants. They were their prince's eyes and ears. Anyone with requests for the prince could ask these boys for help. From around the age of seven, noble boys and girls grew up in other noble families. These families cared for them until they were married. Their upbringing also played a role. This strengthened the bond between their parents' families and the foster families. However, the idea that these boys were physically punished for their princes' mistakes is rather unlikely, as the princes themselves were also physically punished for their own mistakes.

I remember reading a children's book about this.

Poor whipping boy getting his ass flogged🥀

I love how you actually draw these unlike other channels that use AI

First i thought it was bed stuff 😂
