mother 3 came out so long ago that we could have learned japanese to this point

saying the fan translation for this game is "very good" is totally underselling it. it's absolutely phenomenal, one of the greatest fan efforts ever made. I would have gladly paid full price for it.

mother 1 took around 25 years to be officially localized
so see u in 2030 everyone

Props to that one girl who held up a localize mother 3 sign at  wwe

I still can’t even believe they did the “Reggie give us Mother 3” thing. I remember watching that live.

"Saving is done quickly using frogs instead of calling your dad."

I'm pretty sure that's a brand new sentence you've constructed there, Nerrel.

Imagine the game being localized only to be sold for a limited time only

"Look daddy, teacher says, every-time someone mentions Mother 3 on the internet, an Angel gets its wings!"

I just love the irony Nerrel points out here: that if Nintendo really believed that emulation was the devil and people just want to not pay for games, why does everyone want an official Mother 3 release at all? Check-and-mate-and-RELEASEMOTHER3NINTENDO

Mother 3 will now be exclusively available for a limited time until March 31st, 2021!

I really like the boss fight where you can throw his favorite merchandise at him to make him weaker in battle

Mother 3's fandom in a way surpasses Half-Life 3's, because fans already get to play it and yet still demanding for an official release because they genuinely want the public to experience this special little thing.

I would like to appreciate how Nerrel puts subtitles in his vids. As someone who sometimes has a hard time hearing, I greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

"must resist urge to dance"
you can't, Mr. Batty Twist is just the best track in the game to dance

The fan translation is far better than anything we would probably get from a treehouse-helmed translation nowadays. It's my favorite game of all time, and I think it's gotten to have a decent life online despite never getting an officially-localized physical release, just because of the work Clyde and his team did.

My favorite thing about Mother 3 that wasn't mentioned in the video: the rhythm-based battle system is used for musical jokes. A couple hours into the game, once the player has figured out how to chain attacks by following the beat, battle themes start speeding up or slowing down, switching time signatures, or abruptly cutting to dumb little musical interludes, disrupting your hits until you learn the songs and start planning around them. It's amazing and made me laugh out loud several times.

The line, "Either way, the game would certainly generate discussions in today's climate, and they aren't discussions Nintendo likely wants to have," had me crying because literally the whole point of the game is to generate discussions...

Mother 3 is one of those experiences I dont think I'll ever be able to forget. I wish more people would give it a shot.

You know, after methodically researching all material about this series I can find for the past 15 years, somehow I'm still able to be surprised. The inference on the map layouts is new to me, and makes sense.

It probably wasn't released in the West as it didn't have motion controls :P
