This is one of the most important protest songs from the Vietnam era just brilliant

I was born in 62 and saw all my uncles go to Vietnam each a Marine. Watched my Mother cry for her brothers as we watched them leave on the train from Long Island to there bases to depart to war. They made  it home but never the same. They showed me horrible pictures of the dead in the field. God bless all our vets of every war.

As a Nam Vet, CCR had more songs that we say, "Belong to us". Even the anti-war songs. They were our anthems of the time. 'Fortunate Son', 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain', 'Who'll Stop the Rain', 'Runnin' Thru the Jungle', etc. Actually, there is so much Classic Rock from that time it's been used as themes for many Nam war movies.   ...Yea, that's where you heard it!

If you were listening to this song when it came out. Vietnam is what you’d imagine. Rich kids went to Europe. Poor and middle class kids went to Nam.

He said a couple decades ago when it came out! Try almost 6 decades ago!

He says " I aint no millionaire's son, no, no , no."

It's funny that Pegasus mentioned John's voice being a sound signature, because he once got sued for sounding like himself. When John released the solo album "Centerfield" there was a song on it called "Old Man Down The Road" that sounded very similar to the CCR song "Run Through The Jungle". John wrote and sang both songs. The publishing company that owned CCR's songs sued him. The judge ruled that it was John's signature sound, and someone else can own his music but they can't own his sound.

My brother was snatched up as soon as he graduated high school, Vietnam bound. Lost his job in his 50's due to health issues from agent orange, very very little help from the VA, even though doctors admit he was in the heaviest sprayed area. His life has been cut short in so many ways.

My brother went to Nam. He came home. But he was a different person and has struggled with alcohol and drugs most of his life since then. He gets piss poor veterans care for his mental health and cancer. God bless him and other Vietnam vets.

"I Put A Spell On You" was written and originally recorded by Screamin' Jay Hawkins and waa released in 1956. Jay has said that his favorite cover version was CCRS.

We had it all. We had our problems.  Just like every generation. Your experience was based on who you were (gender, race, religion), how much money you had and where you lived.

Now I will say the music was phenomenal.  It came from every genre and around the world.  I’m grateful for the music of my youth and young adulthood.  Some was meaningful, some was fun and some was both.  But the quality of the music from that era is undeniable.

It was a great time for music, more than a couple of decades ago, I was a teenager, I'm 71. This was a great song about the vietnam war and draft.

Fogerty’s voice is epic, immediately recognizable! Love CCR! Great reaction y’all!❤️‍🔥✌🏻🫶🏻

Creedance Clearwater Revival sang "Fortunate Son"  in their set at Woodstock 1969, 1971 l was number 1 in the draft drawing 😳,  fortunately still in High-school in 1972 last draft draw l was  277 lucky me l was the Fortunate one, that year the war ended 😃✌️ Peace from your forever Young Hippie 💃🕺 make Love not War ! Great Reaction👍 my brother and l loved CCR 😍 my brother was in the Army stationed in Germany for two year's 1972 - 74. Long live Woodstock ✌️ Peace ☮️ and Love ❤️ !

I am one of the people who grew up with the Vietnam War as the back drop of my life.  The war was from 1955 until 1975 I was born in 1959.  I know a lot of people who went and never came back and some who came back in body but not mind, and some who lost something either physical, mental or emotional they can never get back.  This song always hit me hard because it tells it like it was.  Thank you both for picking up on what was being said.  Says a lot about you both as people everyone should try to be.  Keep it up.

Most of us hippies and draft resisters respected the soldiers
It was the government that was the problem
Had a lot of veteran friends and family ❤

John Fogarty wrote this song in his room angry because he had to register for the draft during the Vietnam war.

This brings back so many memories. I automatically hear helicopters in my mind when I hear this song. It also makes me think of sitting down to dinner and watching the evening news with live reports from Vietnam ending with the list of soldiers killed that day along with the missing in action.

He was 100% correct about MTV.

Yes, The songs 'I Put A Spell on You' and 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine' are both covers, and CCR do an amazing job with these songs! You also know the song 'Pagan Baby' by CCR, Anthony, as I did a request for that a few months ago. I had thought about doing a request for 'Fortunate Son', but I didn't get round to it unfortunately. Well this song was written by John Fogerty and I love it. From Wikipedia - 'The song, 1969, released during the peak period of the US involvement in the Vietnam War, speaks more to the unfairness of class than war itself, and the children of the wealthy being able to avoid the draft, according to its writer, John Fogerty. It's the old saying about rich men making war and poor men having to fight them'. Thanks so much for the reaction guys. 😊😊
