I don't think y'all talked about this, but when Poseidon says "I am your darkest moment" he is directly quoting what Odysseus said to the Cyclops

Not sure you noticed, but when Poseidon says “—if you’d just killed my son, but no~” he drops what looks like an infant to taunt Ody, reminding him of what he did to the baby

Another thing is, that with the "I've been so gracious" line, is that Ody forgot to make a sacrifice to Posideon before starting the trip, which didn't help his case.

It's a perfectly fine apology by greek standards. They actually would want a justification.

The point is Poseidon was never going to let him off with an apology, hence the next line about naivete. Basically "if you actually believed I would show mercy and let you go because you apologized, then you haven't heard a word I said."

Annifamma's animaatic of Ruthlessness is my favorite for two reasons.

First, the horse imagery is equal parts elegant and unnerving.

Second, Poseidon dropping the water "baby" feels like he's directly calling out Ody for his hypocrisy; he'll kill someone who MIGHT do his family harm, but he won't kill someone who HAS done him harm.

Someone on a different reaction called Poseidon "Wet Hades" so you two aren't the first to get that impression 😂, so much so it got back to the animator and they commented saying "so your the reason everyone is commenting "Wet Hades" on my video"

Edit: Wow thanks for all the likes everyone.

"I am your darkest moment" and "remember me.." Poseidon throwing Odysseus's words for Cyclops back to his face from "Remember them" is awesome~

Poseidon doesn't care if he actually apologized or not. He just spent spent all that time saying how ruthlessness is Mercy on ourselves. He wanted to see he'd learned the lesson. "The line between naivety and hopefulness is almost invisible" means you can't really tell the difference between someone who is naive or hopeful. He didnt mention justifications didn't not being sorry. He then told him to close his heart

The "all i gotta do is open this bag" is a direct callback to aeolis telling him "all you gotta do is not open this bag" so thats probably why it sounds a little cheeky

Please, check also animatic of Neil Illustrator for this song. These two are equal with badassness for me, both have different power moments, for example, Neil's one has better wind bag moment! While Anna's one is amazing with drowning scenes. Both are amazing pieces of art. Please, check that one too!

I definitely feel like the animatic makes the tone shift of "All I gotta do is open this bag" more jarring than it had to be. Like you said, I absolutely adore this animatic, but there's another Ruthlessness animatic by Neal Illustrator that makes that line into more of a defiant "This is my way out" moment rather than a "Haha, you lose" moment, which I think feels less abrupt.

You know, you guys are like the fourth reactors I've seen call Poseidon "chaotic neutral", specifically that, and the reasoning is always because he returns tit for tat, responding to harm on his son with harm in turn... But really, isn't that the epitome of lawful neutral? He's following the established code of honor, not emotions. Heroes kill monsters, monsters kill heroes, and the gods who are fathers of both understand and accept that. It's Odysseus leaving Polyphemus alive in misery, a dishonorable fate worse than death, (and worse, a violation of the unspoken rules of heroic combat) that brings Poseidon to act. Ody broke the "law", and Poseidon brings the consequence.

So, fun fact:

There are two different 'types' of cyclops in Greek mythos. Originally, the Cyclops were only 3 and they were gods: Arges, Brontes, and Steropes who forge Zeus' lightning bolts.
By the time that Homer came around, cyclops just meant any one eyed 'monster' hence Polyphemus and his siblings are born.

A small thing when Poseidon "no" he was dropping a bundle that he was mocking as his son like the infant that he dropped in the troy saga like Poseidon was mocking him "you dropped an infant but you didn't kill the cyclops you moron"

the apology is ancient greece was a justification of why you did somethings, begging "please forgive me" was looked down upon. the word itself originally had meaning like "speech in ones defence"

I agree on the animatic. I’m not sure why Aniflamma gives him that happy look. If anything, it was meant aggressively like a “Oh yeah? How about this!” retort.

20:45 I cannot express the way I bursted out laughing, the moment they ask for any other song of Poseidon’s VA (Steven Rodriguez btw)
My mind instantly went to “The Devil Wears Lace”

NEVER FORGET THAT LINE! I promise if you remember that line and when you notice something weird about numbers if you search what is happening you gonna have a lot of fun
trust me: This is the best "information investment" you can have right now :D

12:34 Even if Ody had apologized on his knees crying Poseidon was still going to kill him. The next line after his apology, "The line between naiveté and hopefulness is almost invisible," shows he never intended to let him go. He just wanted him to know that this is the way Ody should have acted in the first place.

Great stuff as always! If you haven't recorded the Circe Saga yet, be warned that GiGi's animatic for "Done For" isn't the whole song. I've seen other reacters get confused and not hear the end of the song.
