Jeremiah Smith, Julian Sayin, and Buckeyes Defense Is Too Much For Iowa | Tim May Show

There was angst among Ohio State fans headed into the No. 5 Buckeyes game at 14th-ranked and unbeaten Iowa, especially with the Hawkeyes coming off the near-miracle win at Michigan.

But as Matt Wilhelm and Tim point out, by the end of the day, a couple of truths had been laid bare ... Iowa is an average team, and the team it beat the week before might struggle to finish .500 after its second straight loss at Minnesota.

Matt pointed out more positives for the Buckeyes, who saw Jeremiah Smith become the undisputed all-time all-TIMER OSU wide receiver and grab solidly the top shelf in the Heisman Trophy race.

And Julian Sayin had a second straight 300-yard passing day, while the defense showed much of what left fans questioning it the week before.
Plus Dillon Davis of DelGazette.com joined Tim from Iowa City to give his take on a road win the Buckeyes needed to sink their spurs into October.

Giddyup!!

I'd like to see the offense play with tempo and the backs vary where they attack the LOS. As it is, the offense moves like molasses between plays, and the backs are coached to always start by running up the middle, recipes for disaster against better teams.

Hey Tim you haven't changed much in the 56 yrs I've been reading your articles way back when I delivered the Dispatch! What's your secret to aging better. My guess it started after the Cooper era! Go Buckeyes!!

The O-line looked better in the run game on gap plays, but they are still terrible in zone plays. They are still too high on-contact with defenders, surrendering pad-level leverage early and often. Hinsman gets stood up way to often. The right tackle on one play late in the game, either through frustration or being gassed, reached up and around a defenders neck trying to pull him down to the ground. Couldn't believe there was not a holding call. The pass protection spoke for itself, inconsistent at best. The D-line is improving, 26 needs to stay on the bench. J. Jackson is a beast. Can't forget the Demigod. The Demigod this and the Demigod that, when all else fails, throw it to the Demigod.
