Rebel Matters is a completely independent podcast and 100% supported through Patreon. I am working hard at the moment to get the show to be financially self-sufficient so that we can continue to produce episodes and have important conversations. If you want to help us keep the show on the road and are in a position to do so, please consider becoming a valued Patron at patreon.com/rebelmatters.

28 years have passed since the Orange Order last set foot on the Garvaghy Road, and because of some kind of a clerical error in the Parades Commission, they are now trying their darndest to turn back the clock and force a march down the road. During the years of the so-called Drumcree standoff between 1996 and 1998, 21 people lost their lives as a direct result of the Orange Order’s insistence to march on the Garvaghy Road. During this conversation Breandán spoke about the historical context to the situation on the Garvaghy Road, the lives that were lost, progress made in the area, and the current situation that is still unfolding there.
